16.6 Beam splitter
The beam splitter is the component to which
the photo-, eine- and TV tubes and the tubes
for a second observer are attached. Two ver-
sions of the beam splitter, with different
beam partition characteristics, are available:
- for dual Observation and television (50%
to the binocularand 50% laterally).
- for photo and eine (20% to the binocular
and 80% laterally).
The double-iris diaphragm, which is buiit in,
nfluences the beams in the binoeuiar and
in both of the lateral outlets. The latter can
be used simultaneously for different pur-
poses (fig. 1).
- Fit the beam splitter between optics carrier
and binocular tube so that the diaphragm
lever (71) points towards the observer.
- The phototube, the cine/TV tube and the
tubes for a second observer have a self-
centring connection to the dovetail mount
of the beam splitter.
Phototube
The phototube (fig. 2) can be used with com-
mercially-available single-lens reflex Ca-
mera. A T-mount (100) attaches these to the
f = 250 mm or f = 350 mm adapters.
Cine/TV tube
The cine/TV tube (fig. 3) can be used for TV
and eine cameras which aeeept a C-mount
(101). The four possible engagement posi-
tions of the eine tube enable the camera to
be positioned where it is least in the way.
A format-indicating graticule (reticle) for
the phototube and for the cine/TV tube
carries the format limits for 35 mm film for
adapter tube lengths of 250 mm and 350 mm
respectively. The graticule fits into the ad-
justable wide-field eyepieces and into those
for speetacle wearers (see section 5).
Tube for second observer
This tube is available in a short (fig. 1) and in
a long version.
Because the tube can be rotated about two
axes,'it can be positioned at any angle.
The knurledsleeve(104)enables the position
of the image to be corrected.
Stereo attachment for second observer
The advantages of this accessory are the in-
dividual positioning in any direction and the
comfortable binocular Observation facility for
the second observer.
