8. Combined Illuminators
Numerous objects simultaneously .display
many of their structures only when they are
illuminated by a combination of lighting tech-
niques.
Combined inclined and coaxial incident
light (fig. 1) enables objects possessing
both flat specular areas and uneven parts,
such as hybrid circuits and mechanical com-
ponents, to be inspected.
A 6 V / 1 0 W or 6 V / 2 0 W Iow-voltage lamp
and the 6 V / 2 0 W coaxial illuminator can be
connected simultaneously to a 7 V regulat-
ing transformier (see section 9) whichaccepts
a maximum loading of 50 W.
The combination of incident and trans-
mitted light(fig.2)isrecommendedforpartly-
transparent objects such as fibres, insects,
and textiles. The inclined incident light em-
phasises details and structures of the sur-
face. Two Iow-voltage lamps can be mounted
on the transmitted-light stand EB and con-
nected to the built-in transformier.
For photomicrography, the Iow-voltage lamps
should be connected to a separate MTr28
transformer, in order that the colour tempe-
rature of the halogen lamp remains constant.
The same is valid for the combination of the
Iow-voltage lamp with the transmitted-light
stand for bright and dark field.
