3. Binocular tubes
The Standard outfit includes the 45° inclined
binocular tube (fig. 1, right).
For outfits with transmitted-light Stands or
additional tubes, the inclined binocular tube
of low viewing height is recommended
(fig. U e f t ) .
The straight binocular tube (fig. 2, right) ser-
ves to ensure a comfortable working position
when the instrument is inclined.
The low inclined binocular tube and the
straight tube are also available as version T
with built-in double-iris diaphragm and with
drive for adjusting interpupillary distance.
A tube wedge enables the inclination of the
binocular tubes to be increased ordecreased
by15°.
The binocular tube with variable angle of
Observation provides for fatigue-free body
positions with all types of instrument as-
sembly and with any combination of acces-
sories (fig. 2, left). The angle of Observation
can be steplessly varied by up to 90° in either
direction from the vertical and can also be set
for either of two viewing heights. The image
automatically remains erect and laterally-
correct.
- The binocular tube can be removed from
the optics carrier by loosening the clamp-
ing screw and can be fitted in either of two
opposing positions.
- Fit it as required and wriggle it into position
so that the locating screw engages the slot.
- Tighten the clamping screw.
Accessory tubes, such as the drawing tube
(camera lucida), double-iris diaphragm or
phototube, are fitted between the optics car-
rier and the binocular tube in the same way
(see section 16).
