2. Optics carrier
The M7A and M7S optics carriers have an
integrated drive housing with maintenance-
free ball-bearing slides and a 25 mm dia-
meter bore for attachment to a stand.
- Slide the optics carrier down the column
of the stand, to rest on the safety ring. The
safety ring serves to protect the stereo-
microscope, and also as a pivot for lateral
movement.
Screw (4) enables the binocular tube, or an
accessory tube, to be attached to the optics
carrier.

Position the M7A optics carrier over the
stage and secure it with the clamping screw ,4"
(6)(fig.1).

When screw (96) is loosened, the stereo-
microscope can be fully rotated and fixed in
any position.

To centre relative to the incident-light stand
(fig. 2), swing the main objective intothe axis
of the optics carrier (see section 2.1).
- Tighten the securing screw (98).
- Move the changeover lever (97) to the left
so that the instrument is against the end-
stop.
- Loosen screw (98).
- Position the instrument over the centre of
the stage plate.
- Tighten screw (98); the clamping screw
(6) remains loose so that the instrument
can be swung into the vertical-beam Po-
sition.
To centre relative to the transmitted-light
stand, it is recommended that the objective
be swung into the left-hand beam path.
- Remove the left eyepiece and place a
frosted glass over the empty tube.
- Displace the stereomicroscope laterally
and adjust the light spot at low magnifica- ÄV
tion so that the tube outlet is well illumina-
•
ted.
2.1 S t e r e o s c o p i c and vertical-beam
Observation
For stereoscopic observations, the main ob-
jective is positioned in the axis of the optics
carrier (fig. 3) by activating the changeover
lever (97) and simultaneously displacing the
entire optics carrier with binocular tube as
far as the end-stop. The optical beam path
now coincides with the centre of the stage
plate (fig. 4).
