At temperatures of < 0° the battery capacity drops by up to
35 % in relation to the capacity for anoutside temperature of
20°. This shortens the range of the power wheelchair accor-
dingly.Moreover the battery capacity displayed on the con-
trol panel can differ more significantly from theactual battery
capacity.
For an optimal charging frequency the following applies:
„ The batteries can be charged at any time, regardless of
the remaining charge.
„ It takes about 12 hours until a discharged battery (only
one, flashing segment) is completely charged. When the
charging process is complete, the battery charger can
remain connected with no risk of overcharging or dama-
ging the battery. The battery charger features a pro-
grammed recharging phase that will maintain the batte-
ry capacity at the previously reached level.
„ For daily use, it is recommended to connect the charger
overnight so that the full capacity is available every day.
„ If the wheelchair is not used for extended periods of
time, the batteries gradually discharge. If the power
wheelchair is not used for a longer period of time, a
charging cycle must be carried out at least once a week
to maintain the battery capacity. When the power

wheelchair is not used for an extended period of time,
we recommend removing the fuse.
„ The batteries should never be fully discharged (deep
discharge).
„ When the batteries are charging, the controls on the
power wheelchair must be switched off to allow the
charging current to be fed completely into the battery.
The following must be observed when charging the batte-
ries:
„ Only the battery charger provided by Ottobock may be
used for charging. Failure to comply will void the war-
ranty.
„ The voltage settings on the battery charger must corres-
pond to the voltage used in your country.

6.5.2 Charger

WARNING
Explosion hazard as a result of sparks! Always switch
off the battery charger and remove the mains plug before
disconnecting the battery.
