NOTICE
Unauthorized battery replacement. The battery may only
be replaced by a specialist dealer. The characteristic cur-
ve of the battery charger set at the factory corresponds to
the battery provided and must not be changed. Setting the
characteristic curve incorrectly can result in permanent da-
mage to the battery.
The battery charger is designed for gel batteries (mainte-
nance-free batteries). The charger is powered according to
the appropriate characteristic curve allowing for optimal
charging of the battery type. If the battery charger is to be
used with another power wheelchair or if new batteries are
installed, the characteristic curve has to be checked.
NOTICE
Risk of battery damage. Setting the characteristic curve
incorrectly can result in permanent damage to the battery.
When handling the battery charger, the following safety ins-
tructions must be observed:
„ D Always place the rubber feet of the battery charger
on a level surface.
„ Protect the battery charger from direct sunlight to prevent
the charger from getting any warmer than it already is.

„ The location where the battery charger is installed must
be dry and well ventilated. Avoid letting dust and dirt
enter the battery charger. It can impair the functionality
of the battery charger.
„ To clean the charger, use a dry piece of cloth.
To charge the batteries, proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the control unit on the power wheelchair.
2. Connect the plug of the battery charger to the charging
receptacle on the control panel of the power wheelchair
(see Fig. 20).
3. Connect the battery charger to a wall outlet. The batte-
ries will start charging automatically, and the current
battery capacity is indicated on the LEDs on the battery
charger.
4. When the charging process is complete: Disconnect the
battery charger from the mains supply.
5. Turn on the control unit; the power wheelchair is now
ready for operation.
