Any equipment connected at the interfaces must also demonstrably meet
the respective IEC standards (e. g. IEC 60950 for data processing equip-
ment, and IEC/DIN EN 60601-1 for electromedical units).
All configurations must comply with basic standard IEC/DIN EN 60601-1.
The person connecting the devices is responsible for the configuration and
must ensure that the basic standard IEC/DIN EN 60601-1 or the corre-
sponding national standards are met.

Connect video cable
►
Connect video cables according to diagrams, see First use.
Connecting the power supply
Risk of fatal injury from electric shock!

Connect the product only to a grounded power
supply.
DANGER
►
Plug in the power cord at mains connector 30 of camera control unit 1.
►
Connect the mains plug of the power cord to the building mains.
►
Plug in the equipotentialization at equipotentialization connector 28
of camera control unit 1.
►
Connect the plug of the equipotentialization cable to the building
mains equipotentialization connector.
5.2 Function checks
Camera control unit
►
Check camera control unit 1 for external damage and signs of knocks
or other mechanical impacts.
Power cord
►
Check that the power cord is not broken, kinked or twisted.
Video cable
►
Check that the video cable is not broken, kinked or twisted.
Camera head with endo-lens and camera cable
Note
The endo-lens is integrated in the camera head and cannot be removed!

Check to make certain that the front window of endo-lens11 on cam-
era head18 is completely clean. If necessary, clean the window with
isopropyl alcohol (70 %).

Make certain that blue adjusting ring focus 12 turns freely without
sticking.
►
PV435 only: Make certain that black adjusting ring zoom 13 turns
freely without sticking.
►
Check that camera cable 17 is not broken, kinked or twisted.
►
Do not use camera head if damaged.
►
Check that pins in camera plug 21 are not bent and that there is no
humidity in the plug.
►
Check that the housing of the camera head is not damaged or broken.
Do not use camera head if damaged.
►
Aim camera head 18 to an object in the room, focus the image and
check for good image quality.
Sterile covers (if used)
Note
Aesculap recommends using disposable sterile covers, art. no. JG904. Use of
the sterile covers is described in the relevant instructions for use.

Check that the packaging of the sterile covers is unopened, undamaged
and dry before using the sterile covers in the operating room.
5.3 Safe operation
Connecting the camera cable
►
Unscrew cap 23 from camera cable 17.
►
Connect the plug of camera cable 17 to camera socket 9 at the front
panel of camera control unit 1. When doing this take care that the red
marking 22 on the plug is aligned with the red marking 22 on camera
socket 9.
Switching on the system devices
►
Switch on the monitor and set it to the selected channel (e.g. RGB,
S-Video (Y/C) or Composite Video (FBAS)).
►
Press ON switch 2 at camera control unit 1.
LED 3 lights up.
LED 6/7/8 for the active mode of light metering will light up.
