Connections on the rear panel of the camera control unit
Connections Description
RGB/SYNC 24 For feeding a high-quality analog RGB signal to
a monitor or other peripherals through a cable
with a 15-pin HD connector.
S-VIDEO OUT Outputs for Y/C-signals for connecting a mon-
(1 + 2) 25 itor or other peripherals via cables with mini
DIN plugs
VIDEO OUT Outputs for Composite Video signals for con-
(1 + 2) 26 necting a monitor or other peripherals via
cables with BNC plugs
REMOTE 27 Connector for remote control of peripherals
(video printer, video recorder or other docu-
mentation devices) via cables with CINCH

4. Preparation and setup
Non-compliance with the following rules will result in complete exclusion
of liability on the part of Aesculap.

When setting up and operating the product, adhere to
– national regulations for installation and operation,
– national regulations on fire and explosion protection.
Note
For the safety of patients and users it is essential that the mains power cord
and, especially, the protective earth connection are intact. In many cases
defective or missing protective earth connections are not registered imme-
diately.

Connect the device via the potential equalization terminal at the rear
panel of the device to the potential equalization system of the room
used for medical purposes.
►
Ensure that all devices operated in the vicinity comply with their cor-
responding EMC requirements.
Note
The potential equalization lead can be ordered from the manufacturer as
art. no. GK535 (4 m length) or TA008205 (0.8 m length).
Note
Arrange the medical cart outside the sterile area.
Note
Measure the cable length so that there is sufficient freedom of movement
without endangering the sterility.
Note
Make sure access to the power connection is unobstructed.
4.1 First use

Adhere to the instructions for use of any medi-

cal device.
There are three different connection variants, depending on system
requirements.

If a parallel video image from the documentation device is not
required, always connect the components as shown under variant 1.
►
If a parallel video image from the documentation device is required on
a monitor, connect the components as shown under variant 2 or 3.
►
Always connect the video output (Video out) of one device to the video
input (Video in) of the next device.

Select signal or type of video cable according to the common signal
standard of the camera and monitor, always choosing the highest-
quality signal option (video signals in descending order of quality: RGB,
S-Video (Y/C), Composite Video (FBAS)).
