Connecting the endoscope
PV430/PV432:
►
Simultaneously press both locking buttons 19 of endo-lens 11 to
spread the retaining brackets.
►
Insert endoscope 10 and release locking buttons 19.
►
Check for correct seating by turning endoscope 10.
PV435:
►
Verify that slide 14 is opened (UNLOCK position).
►
Press locking button 19.
►
Insert endoscope 10 and release locking button 19.
►
To lock the endoscope against rotation, close slide 14 (LOCK position).
Note
The endo-lens 11 can be positioned as required. To do this, swivel endo-
lens 11 to the required position (only with PV435).
Connecting the light cable
►
Connect light cable 20 to endoscope 10.
►
Switch on the light source at a low light intensity setting.
Adjusting the image focus and enlargement
►
Adjust the intensity of the light source until sufficient illumination is
achieved.
►
To adjust the focus for a sharp image, turn blue adjusting ring focus 12
on endo-lens 11.
►
To adjust the image enlargement (zoom factor), turn black adjusting
ring zoom 13 on endo-lens 11 (only with PV435).
Using endoscopes with different sheath diameters
To achieve the optimum image quality with endoscopes of different
sheath diameters, the mode of light metering, MODE, can be adjusted.
Aesculap recommends the following settings for light metering:
■
MODE HIGH for sheath diameter ≥ 4 mm at normal light conditions
■
MODE MEDIUM for sheath diameters ≥ 4 mm; for bright light condi-
tions, to prevent blooming (e.g. in arthroscopy)
■
MODE LOW for sheath diameter ≤ 3 mm
►
Press pushbutton for light metering (MODE) 5 on the front panel of the
camera.
The LED of the active mode of light metering on camera control unit 1
will light up.

Press pushbutton for light metering (MODE) 5 repeatedly until the
required setting is displayed.
Note
The setting remains stored even if the camera control unit is switched off
and on again. The present setting of light metering MODE is indicated by
the LED on the camera control unit.
Carrying out white-balancing
►
Point endoscope 10 at a white object (e.g. a sterile swab).
►
Press white-adjustment button (WHITE) 4 on camera control unit 1 or
►
Press white-adjustment button 16 on the camera head 18 and keep
the endoscope 10 pointing to the white object for 5 seconds.
The image will be displayed in pure white. This procedure ensures real-
istic rendition of all colors.
The following messages will be displayed on the monitor during white-
adjustment:

If white-adjustment fails, restart white-adjustment, see Carrying out
white-balancing.
Note
The white-balance data are stored separately for each mode (HIGH,
MEDIUM, LOW).
The setting remains stored even if the camera control unit is switched off
and on again.
