3.3
Intended use
The 3-chip video camera system DAVID 3 PV430/PV432/PV435
(DAVID = Digital Aesculap Videoendoscopic Image Display) is used in
medical endoscopy, together with an endoscope, a light source and a
monitor.
It serves to visualize the endoscopic image for display on a color monitor.
Indication
The product is indicated for supporting diagnosis and treatment in imag-
ing endoscopy.
Contraindication
No specific contraindication can be provided for use can be stated due to
the universal suitability of the product for endoscopy. The use of the prod-
uct is contraindicated if endoscopic procedures are contraindicated. In
general, all uses that include CF conditions are contraindicated.

Operating principle
Endoscope 10 visualizes the operation site and endoscopic lens 11
focuses this image onto the three CCD sensors, where it is converted into
electrical signals that can be further amplified. The image brightness is
automatically adjusted to the light intensity (autoshutter).
Through camera cable 17, the image signals are transferred to camera
control unit 1, where they are further amplified for display on the monitor.
The video signal processed in this way can then be picked up at the video
output sockets for connecting a monitor, video recorder, video printer or
any other digital documentation or archiving system.
For areas that are particularly difficult to illuminate, the camera system
offers a dynamic electronic brightness enhancement function (GAIN),
which automatically adapts to different light conditions, and a choice of
three mode settings for different situations during application.
The video camera system is also equipped with an automatic white bal-
ance system for optimal color rendition.
