On-board Web Interface

After installing a new KVM s2-0411 or KVM s3-1621 appliance, you can view and
configure unit parameters, determine who has access and control rights, view and
control currently active video sessions, and execute a variety of control functions such
as rebooting and upgrading your KVM s2-0411 and KVM s3-1621 appliances from the
on-board web interface. The on-board web interface has four tabs: Connections,
Configure, Status, and Tools.
To launch the on-board web interface, see "Launching the on-board web interface" on
page 7. For information about the Connections tab, see "Accessing servers from the on-
board web interface" on page 34.
6.1

Migrating switches from the KVM s3 Client

You can manage the KVM s2-0411 and KVM s3-1621 appliances using the KVM s3
Client or the on-board web interface. This chapter applies only to the on-board web
interface. To manage the appliance using the KVM s3 Client, see "Using the KVM s3
Client Appliance Management Panel" on page 57.
If you have existing installations of KVM s2-0411 and KVM s3-1621 appliances that do
not support the on-board web interface, you can migrate the switches from the KVM s3
Client to the on-board web interface. To do so, follow the procedures in "Upgrading
firmware" on page 58, "Migrating appliances to the on-board web interface" on page 60,
and "Using the Resync Wizard" on page 62.
After you migrate either a KVM s2-0411 or KVM s3-1621 appliance, you must
i
manage the switch using the on-board web interface instead of the KVM s3
Client AMP, however, you can still use the KVM s3 Client to modify server
properties, manage the local database, organize your system, and connect to
KVM sessions. See "KVM s3 Client Explorer" on page 13 and "Using the
Video Viewer" on page 33.
6.2
Appliance parameters
The Configure tab displays a list of categories for your KVM s2-0411 and KVM s3-1621
appliances. Selecting a category displays associated appliance parameters. You can
modify the parameters and securely send the changes back to the KVM s2-0411 and
KVM s3-1621 appliances.
6.2.1
Changing appliance parameters
The Appliances category allows you to view the product type and serial number for the
KVM s2-0411 and KVM s3-1621 appliances.
The Network sub-category allows you to select either IPv4 (default) or IPv6 mode. You
will be able to change the following network settings: IP Address, Subnet Mask (when
using IPv4 mode) or Prefix Length (when using IPv6 mode), and Gateway. You will also
be able to choose a LAN Speed, specify up to three IP addresses for DNS servers, and
choose whether to assign a Static (default ) IP address or, when appropriate, a DHCP or
