5.26 Electrical motor

How the electrical motor works
The motor starts working as soon as you start
pedalling when one of the assistance levels has
been selected .
The performance of the motor depends on sev-
eral factors:
• The force used while pedalling .
The assistance is more gentle when you
pedal with low force than when you pedal with
higher force, e .g . while riding uphill . However,
this increases the power consumption and
decreases the range .
• The assistance mode
The higher the level of assistance, the more
power the motor will provide . However,
high motor performance means high power
consumption . The lowest assistance mode
provides the least assistance but also the
longest range .
Range
Any specified range information is usually ob-
tained under optimal conditions . Ranges achieved
under everyday conditions will usually be shorter .
Please consider this when planning your route .
The range depends on many factors . These in-
clude battery capacity, motor assistance level
selected, geographical conditions, road surface,
driving style, environmental temperature, the
weight of the rider, tyre pressure and the technical
state of your FLYER e-bike .
Extreme ambient temperatures may reduce the
range . The operating temperature should be kept
within the range from -5 degrees to 40 degrees .
Driving without drive assistance
You can also ride your FLYER without drive as-
sistance by selecting the assistance level "OFF" .
However, you must ensure that your system is
always switched on .
Never drive without a battery or with your
system switched off, as the functions of
the operating unit and the lighting func-
tions are not available in this case .
Always remove the battery before clean-
ing, maintaining or repairing your e-bike .
Ensure that you do not touch and thus
possibly connect contacts when clean-
ing or maintaining the battery .
You risk being hurt and the battery may
suffer damage if the contacts are live.
Do not use a strong water jet or high-pres-
sure cleaner for cleaning . The cleaning
liquid may enter sealed bearings due to
