12.4.2 Disinfecting the Autoclaveable Wired Remote Control
• Disinfect only cleaned wired remote control units.
• The wired remote control unit may be disinfected thermally and by machine.

12.4.3 Sterilizing the Autoclaveable Wired Remote Control
Only a cleaned, disinfected, and dry wired remote control can be sterilized with
saturated steam.
The following sterilization methods has been validated by the manufacturer:

Drying time depends on several variables, including: altitute, humidity, type of
wrap, preconditioning, size of chamber, mass of load, and placement in
chamber. Users must verify that drying time set in their autoclave yields dry
surgical equipment.
Please follow the instructions of the operating manual of the autoclave.
The wired remote control is not suitable for gamma sterilization or STERRAD
sterilization methods.
The manufacturer designed the wired remote control for a specific number of
sterilization cycles (see label for exact number of cycles).
Never exceed the number of sterilization cycles indicated by the manufacturer.

12.5 Manufacturer's Specifications

The manufacturer stipulates that qualified personnel or hospital technicians
must regularly test the device to assess its functionality and technical safety. This
inspection has to be carried out once a year. The tests are described in chapter 13
Annual Inspection, page 46.
Regular inspections will assist in early detection of possible malfunctions. This
helps preserve the device and increases its safety and service life.

12.6 Maintenance by Authorized Service Technician

An authorized service technician has to inspect and service the device at
appropriate intervals to ensure the safety and functionality of the unit. The
minimum service interval is two years, depending on frequency and duration of
use. If the service interval is not maintained, the manufacturer does not assume
any liability for the functional safety of the device. If the prescribed service
schedules are ignored, the manufacturer is not responsible for the functional
safety of the device.
A sticker located on the rear panel of the device will remind you of the latest date
for the next service or maintenance check.
