USE AND MANAGEMENT:
6.1
Start-up:
Only qualified personnel can carry out the necessary checks/maintenance. In this case, contact Calpeda or authorised service centres.
Always refer to the order data and the additional technical documentation provided by Calpeda for further
specifications based on the variants/special features/configurations of the product purchased.
If the electric pump fails to start (no "run-up"), do not repeatedly attempt to start as this could damage the unit. Identify the malfunction and repair.
If an indirect starting system is used, the starting transient must be brief and must never last more than a few seconds.
The first start-up must be accomplished with the isolating sluice valve only partially open. This will limit the entrainment of any sand or silt to the minimum.
If the water is turbid, throttle the sluice valve still further until only clear water is delivered.
Now gradually open the sluice valve, checking that the pump delivers not more than 40 g/m
When the pump is running, check that the power draw is no higher than that indicated on the motor data plate and that the machine operates regu-
larly.
The thermal relay must be set according to the power draw of the unit. Proceed in the following way:
1) set the electric pump to top power draw conditions, normally that of the maximum flow rate, with the relay set to the amperage value given on the
motor data plate;
2)
lower the setting by steps until the relay trips (if the relay fails to reach the tripping position even when the minimum amperage value is
reached, it will be necessary to replace it since it will either be defective or oversized in relation to the power draw of the unit. Following
this, repeat the entire sequence);
3) now set the relay setting pointer to the minimum non-tripping amperage value.
