CONNECTING XCONTROL + XCONTROL + XCONNECT
NOTICE! The last XControl to be connected is always in the first position of
the two XControl devices. That is important for usage in the "NC Program"
or in the MDA.
Connect the additional XControl in the same sequence as the first one. Connecting

SWITCHING ON
NOTICE! After 10 minutes of inactivity, the XControl switches to stand-by
mode.

POSITIONING THE XCONTROL
ü XControl is connected with XConnect.
1. Using a clamping device, position the XControl in the working area of the ma-
chine.
2. Insert the reference tool (calibration mandrel) with the exact tool length into the
spindle.
3. Position the reference tool (calibration mandrel) centrally approx. 5 mm above
the contact point of the XControl.
4. Use the respective controller-dependent programs (Siemens/Heidenhain) to de-
termine the position of the XControl in the machine coordinates system.
»
XControl is positioned.

SIEMENS AUTOMATED OPERATION
R-parameters R78-R96 are overwritten during the probing process. Collection of sub-
programs comprises standard probe cycles for the controller SINUMERIK 840D and
828D which must be saved on the controller in the user cycles area. Sub-programs
are configured for the G17-level. Probe cycles work exclusively with the XTouch.
Probe processes with other devices are not taking into account here and could leave
to collisions on the machine.

Activation G91 (incremental)
When all probe cycles are started, the function G91 (incremental dimensions specific-
ations) is activated. If the cycle is aborted by the user, the controller must be
switched to absolute dimensions specification G90 if required.

In the controller, it is possible to check in user cycles under L_XCPOS
whether the reference position (R96) of the XControl in the tool axis
was saved.
