16. Troubleshooting
The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your machine failing to
work properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.
Fault
Engine does not start.
Engine runs erratically.
Motor is overheated.
One of the two chains is
blocked.
The machine does not
move when the engine is
running.
Possible cause
Spark plug connector unplugged.
No fuel or old fuel.
Choke not in open position.
Fuel line clogged.
Contaminated spark plug.
Engine flooded.
Spark plug cable loose.
Engine runs with CHOKE.
Fuel line clogged or old fuel.
Ventilation blocked.
Water or contamination in the fuel
system.
Contaminated air filter.
Incorrect carburettor setting.
Engine oil level low.
Contaminated air filter.
Airflow restricted.
Carburettor not adjusted correctly.
Foreign objects have got jammed
between the chain and the frame.
The gear was not chosen correctly.
The drive chains are not tensioned
sufficiently.

Remedy
Re-connect the spark plug cable to the
spark plug.
Fill with clean, fresh petrol.
The throttle must be positioned in the choke
position during cold starting.
Clean the fuel line.
Clean, set gap or replace.
Wait a few minutes before restarting, but do
not allow the engine to prime.
Connect and fasten the spark plug cable.
Set the choker-arm to OFF.
Clean the fuel line. Fill the tank with clean,
fresh petrol.
Clean the air filter.
Empty the tank. Fill the tank with fresh fuel.
Clean or replace the air filter.
Contact the service department.
Fill crankcase with correct oil.
Clean the air filter.
Remove and clean the housing.
Contact the service department.
Remove the foreign objects.
Make sure that the gear lever is not be-
tween two gears.
Tension the chains.
