THE CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP
Batavus takes care of the registration
of all bicycles before they leave the
Batavus factory. The details (frame
number and Theft Prevention Chip
(DPC) number) are sent directly to the
Rai DataCentre (RDC) for linkage to
the RDW Centre for Vehicle Technology
and Information.
Remember to note down the key
number. If you lose both keys you can
order new ones on the basis of the key
number. Nowadays the lock number is
the same as the DPC number.

Ownership and all the relevant details
concerning your bicycle (which you

receive when you purchase it) with you.
20-25 Nm
3. The police can link your nationally-
25-30 Nm
registered bicycle to your personal
details and record the bicycle as having
15-18 Nm
been stolen.
30-35 Nm
4. If you have insured your bicycle you
must also inform your insurance com-
25 Nm
pany of the theft.
A GOOD LOCK
Most Batavus bicycles are equipped
with an "armoured" safety lock.
If you want to go to extra lengths
to secure your valuable bicycle, it is
worthwhile anchoring it to a pole or
fence with an extra cable lock. The ca-
ble does have to go through the frame
and one of the two wheels and not just
