Descaling the appliance

The appliance must be descaled
regularly. The descaling frequency
is based on the local water hardness.
Use the test strip to measure
the hardness of your water
(spare part no. 05 6317).

Descaling procedure

You can use either our descaler
(spare part no. 310451) or
a commercially available liquid descaler
with a citric acid content of at
least 80%.
1. Start the descaling programme by
simultaneously pressing buttons 16
(ice maker) and 17 (ice cubes) (for
5 sec.) as illustrated in Fig. 2.
E1 is then displayed (Figs. 2/19
and 20.
2. Empty the ice maker
Wait until a dual acoustic signal
is emitted (lasts 5 to 10 min.) and
E5 is displayed (Fig. 2/19), then
immediately remove all the ice out
of the ice dispenser by pressing the
ice dispenser button, Fig. 6/23.
3. Adding descaler
After emptying the ice maker, remove
the freezer drawer, Fig. 1/8, and pull
out the red stopper, Fig. p/32
(remove ice residue from the filler
opening, Fig. p/31).
Then slowly pour 500 ml of descaler,
Fig. p/33, into the filler opening. The
descaler must not be diluted, as it is
automatically diluted via the descaling
programme.
Any spilt descaler should be cleaned
up immediately.
After pouring in the descaler, seal the
filler opening by pressing in the red
stopper, Fig, p/32, and re insert the
freezer drawer, Fig. 1/8. Then close
the door.
The descaling process now continues
automatically.
