Connecting the PV array
Reverse connection of a string of the PV array generates a short circuit, which causes a surge in the
inversely connected string. Under normal conditions, the fuse associated with this string will clear
the short circuit. The voltage that the fuse must open is double the open circuit voltage, as the string
is connected in reverse.
Always check the polarity of PV arrays before making any connections.
Special attention should be paid in the first installation of the different strings of the PV array in the
INGECON SUN String Control (diagram 1) and of the different INGECON SUN String Controls in the inverter
(diagram 2).

To avoid the problem of the overcurrent that occurs when connecting a string in reverse, Ingeteam has
implemented a system to verify the correct polarity before connecting each string.

1. Open all the fuse holders of the negative pole and remove the fuses, leaving the fuses of the positive pole
and the fuse protecting the electronics in place.
