7. Charging the drive battery

Item no. 231593 does not include a 6V drive rechargeable battery in the delivery. It must
be ordered separately.
Please note:
The drive battery included in the delivery for the car is empty and has to be recharged.
Before the drive battery delivers its maximum power, several complete discharge and
charge cycles are necessary.
Use the drive battery until it is empty, as recharging a "half-full" NiMH battery pack creates
the so-called "lazy battery" effect (similar to the memory effect known with NiCd recharge-
able batteries). That means that the rechargeable battery pack loses its capacity, it no
longer releases all of its saved energy, drive time is decreased.
If you are using several drive batteries or rechargeable batteries, purchasing a high-qual-
ity charger may be worthwhile. They are normally also suitably for fast charging of recharge-
able batteries.
• If the drive battery was taken directly out of the vehicle and is still hot, leave it to cool off first before
recharging it (at least 5-10 minutes).
• Connect the drive battery with the charger observing the correct polarity. The red cable of the drive
battery is positive /+, the black cable negative/-.
If you do not have a charger with the appropriate MicroCar connector, then use an appropriate
adapter cable.
• The drive battery is quick-charged. Alternatively, chose a charging current of 300-400mA in order to
charge the drive battery in approximately 3-4 hours. As a matter of principle, a rechargeable battery
must be "charged up" more that it can release later on.
Do not use any force when plugging it in!
For safety purposes, remove the drive battery from the vehicle and place it on a non-flam-
mable surface, e.g. a tiled floor. Keep the drive battery pack away from flammable objects.
Never charge rechargeable batteries unsupervised.
The rechargeable battery gets warm during charging. This is normal.
• Disconnect the drive battery after the charging operation from the charger. Switch off the charger
and pull it out the mains socket.
• Before using the drive battery in the vehicle, wait until it has completely cooled down (min. 5-10
minutes).

Arrêtez immédiatement la course si vous observez des réactions inhabituelles de la voiture
quant aux commandes sur l'émetteur ou si la voiture ne réagit plus.
Ce genre de réactions peut être causé par un accu d'entraînement faible, des piles/accus
faibles dans la télécommande ou une trop grande distance entre voiture et télécommande.
De même, une antenne pas entièrement ressortie, des perturbations sur le canal radio
utilisé (par ex. autres modèles réduits, transmission radio par d'autres appareils) ou des
conditions défavorables d'émission/de réception peuvent être la cause des réactions
inhabituelles de la voiture.
