5. Commissioning
If necessary, remove a connected storage battery, connect the Charge Terminal and
switch it on by means of the POWER switch at the back of the device. For approx. 2
seconds, the display shows

SELFTEST RUNNING
During this time, the Charge Terminal starts a self-test and also checks a connected
storage battery, if necessary. This is necessary in order to maintain all data in case of
a power failure (memory back-up).
Now, leave the device switched on for at least 2 hours so that the integrated gold
cap can charge completely. This gold cap is intended for storing all data for at least
48 hours in case of switch-off or a power failure. Of course, during this time, the
Charge Terminal remains ready for operation.
Without a storage battery being connected, the display shows the stand-by indicati-
on with the operating temperature

You can refresh exhausted storage batteries, delete programs, activate a temperatu-
re limit for NiCd and NiMH storage batteries, switch on/off the buzzer and select a
language.
If in these menus nothing is entered within 5 seconds, the display indicates the
stand-by indication as shown above. As soon as a storage battery is connected, the
display shows the automatic storage battery recognition.

The program REFRESH is intended to refresh storage batteries which cannot be
automatically recognized when they are connected because their voltage is too low
(exhausted storage batteries). After starting this program you have to enter the stor-
age battery type and the number of cells. Then, the refreshing of the storage batte-
ries occurs at different current levels during which the storage battery voltage is
monitored permanently. As soon as the storage battery has reached its minimum
voltage, the REFRESH program stops and the automatic storage battery recognition
starts. The REFRESH program takes approx. 1 minute and stops automatically. It is
also possible to stop this program at any time by means of the ENTER key.
The REFRESH program can also be started if the storage battery pack is recognized
automatically but its voltage is too low regarding the number of its cells. Please sel-
ect the REFRESH program without the storage battery being connected. To enter
the storage battery type and the cell number connect the storage battery. Then, start
the program.

In order not to have to enter all the parameters each time you are charging the same
storage battery, these parameters can be stored as a single program. Up to 20 of
these programs can be stored and can be deleted provided that no storage battery
is connected.
For this purpose, select the programs with the UP/ DOWN keys.

With these programs, the storage battery type (Ni for NiCd or NiMH storage batteries
or Pb for lead storage batteries), the cell number (1 to 20), the mode (A for automatic
or M for manual) and the program are indicated, but all data being entered are sto-
red. If there is no other program stored at that storage location, the following indica-
tion appears

There are 20 storage locations. Between storage location 20 and 1, there is the menu
topic STOP, if no program shall be deleted.
