If no storage battery is connected, you can switch on/off the temperature limit. This
temperature limit is only valid for NiCd and NiMH storage batteries. If the limit is
activated, a running program is interrupted at temperatures under +10° C and over
+35° C and is continued as soon as the operating temperature is between +15 and
+30° C.
The discharge always is interrupted as soon as the operating temperature is higher
than +35° C.
For lead storage batteries, a running program generally is interrupted when the tem-
perature is not in the range of 0 to +40° C and is continued at a temperature between
+ 5 and +35° C.
This setting is permanently stored in an EEPROM and is even valid after the Charge
Terminal has been switched off.
SET TEMPLIMIT
1. Ni- LIMIT ON
2. Ni- LIMIT OFF
The built-in buzzer can be switched on/off. With the buzzer being switched on, each
key stroke is confirmed with a beep. In case of a positive program finish (READY),
you can hear 3 high double beeps; in case of a break-off due to an error (ERROR),
you can hear 3 single low beeps. These two messages are repeated after1 and 2
minutes.
This setting is stored permanently as well.
SET SOUND
1. SOUND ON
2. SOUND OFF
Without a storage battery being connected, the language can be selected in the
menu. You can choose between German and English; this setting is stored perma-
nently as well.
SET LANGUAGE
1. ENGLISH
2. GERMAN
Now, connect a storage battery. Please ensure correct polarity: connect the negati-
ve pole of the storage battery with the negative connection of the Charge Terminal
and connect the positive pole of the battery with the positive connection of the Char-
ge Terminal. In case of wrong polarity, the storage battery is not recognized.
The Charge Terminal recognizes the storage battery and starts the inquiry concer-
ning the program settings.
AUTO DETECTION
1. SET-TYPE
If the storage battery is connected but not recognized (e.g. exhausted storage batte-
ries), start the REFRESH program.

CYCLE, ALIVE, SELF DISCHARGE and WINTER, the old data are deleted in case of
renewed charge or discharge.
The capacity during trickle charge is not calculated, indicated or added.
Temperature monitoring
In stand-by mode or pause mode, the sensor determines the temperature inside the
housing. For a fast reaction to the external temperature, the fan is switched on
approx. Every 15 minutes for approx. 2 minutes.
During the charging process, the ambient temperature can be measured via the air-
flow.
During discharge, the temperature control is done by measuring the temperature of
the outgoing air. The running program is interrupted at +35° C and is continued at
+30° C.
With NiCd and NiMH storage batteries and with the temperature limit being switched
on, a running program is interrupted at temperatures under +10° C or over +35° C
and is continued at temperatures between +15° C and +30° C.
With lead storage batteries, a running program is always interrupted at temperatures
under 0° C and over +40° C and is continued at temperatures between +5° C and
+35° C.
The temperature indication on the display shows the respective operating temperature.
When charging lead storage batteries, the final charging voltage, which depends on
the temperature for these storage batteries, is automatically calculated and adapted
by means of the ambient temperature.
Attention!
It might occur that in case of storage battery packs with integrated temperature fuse
this fuse might be triggered (e.g. in case of high ambient temperature or high char-
ging or discharging current). If this integrated temperature fuse is a simple bimetallic
contact (very cheap for the manufacturer), this contact interrupts the charging cur-
rent circuit. This equals a removal of the storage battery pack so that the Charge Ter-
minal might not recognize this storage battery anymore. After resetting the bimetallic
contact, the Charge Terminal recognizes the storage battery and starts the automa-
tic storage battery recognition.
Interface
At the back of the Charge Terminal, there is a 9-pin SUB- D connector which can be
connected to a PC via a suitable interface cable. By means of the suitable software,
it is possible to record, store and read in storage battery characteristic curves.
To connect the Charge Terminal with a PC, only use the interface
cable belonging to the software! Do not use a different cable. Otherwi-
se, the guarantee concerning the damaging of the PC and/or the Char-
ge Terminal will expire!
