solution:
- Switch off the device immediately and send it in for repair!
problem:
ERROR indication with storage battery being inserted
solution:
- storage battery voltage is too high (possibly battery inserted or wrong setting)
- storage battery voltage is too low (defective storage battery)
- hardware error recognition of the device: charge a properly working storage battery
with the Charge Terminal. If the error occurs again, send the device in for repair.
problem:
low charging capacity (C) although the storage battery was discharged
solution:
change the mode, i.e. if the storage battery was charged in automatic mode, then
charge it now in manual mode with the CHECK program or if the storage battery was
charged in the manual mode, charge it now in automatic mode with the CHECK pro-
gram. If the charging capacity C still is too low, the storage battery is defective.
problem:
"EMC pulses, electrostatic discharge = ESD, surge pulse or line-guided interference
immunity"
solution:
- no indication on the display or it does not react:
switch the device off and on again by means of the mains switch
- error indication: here, the hardware error recognition was triggered to protect the
storage battery:
remove the storage battery, insert it again and enter the program
problem:
considerable heating of the housing
solution:
- the high performance of the Charge Terminal causes heating at the bottom and
top of the housing; this is not an error; ensure sufficient ventilation
(see chapter 3. Safety Instructions).

Concerning charging devices, the expression C-rate is very common. The C-rate is
the current value which is normally indicated during charge and discharge. Besides,
this current value in amperes corresponds to the nominal capacity in ampere hours;
i.e. for a storage battery of 2000 mAh is C= 2.0 A.
Please note that the capacity that can be drawn from a storage battery strongly
depends on the discharge current: the lower the discharge current, the higher is the
capacity that can be drawn. The present Charge Terminal automatically adapts the
discharge current to the present condition of the storage battery by means of the
automatic mode.
This Charge Terminal starts with a discharge current of 1.0 A: for a storage battery of
1000 mAh, 1.0 A are already 1C, whereas it is only C/2 for a storage battery of 2000
mAh. Therefore, the storage battery of 2000 mAh will reach the 2000 mAh much
easier than the storage battery of 1000 mAh will reach 1000 mAh.
Meanwhile, the capacity of a storage battery is indicated with C/ 3 by renowned
manufacturers. This means that e.g. a storage battery of 3000 mAh can reach these
3000 mAh at a discharge current of 1A (= C/ 3). However, if a manufacturer indicates
a discharge current of C/10 (= 300 mA) for a storage battery of 3000 mAh, it can be
concluded that this storage battery cannot supply 3000 mAh at a discharge current
of 1.0 A! Therefore, a storage battery with C/ 10 is worse. Storage batteries dischar-
ge themselves after a certain time. This property is called self-discharge.
3. Safety Instructions
The Charge Terminal complies with safety class II. Only connect the Charge Terminal
to 230V alternating voltage (AC).
Only charge NiCd and NiMH storage battery packs consisting of storage batteries of
type R20 (mono cell), R14 (baby cell), R6 (mignon cell) and sub-C cells. The storage
battery packs may consist of 1 to 20 cells. The nominal capacity of these storage
battery types ( indicated in mAh or Ah) is not important
Moreover, this Charge Terminal is intended for charging standard lead-acid storage
batteries, lead-fleece and lead-gel storage batteries consisting of 1 to 6 or of 12
cells. The nominal capacity of these storage battery types has to be within 500mAh
to 100Ah.
Charging lead storage batteries:
To charge car batteries, separate the car battery from the vehicle electrical system,
remove the battery and put it at a well-ventilated place.
