Please note that in case of wrong capacity selection there is no guarantee. We will
not accept liability neither for the Charge Terminal nor for the storage battery!
CAPACITY
500mAh
Now, select the cell number. You can select 1 to 20 cells for NiCd and NiMH storage
batteries and 1 to 6 or 12 cells for lead storage batteries.
The Charge Terminal suggests a number of cells corresponding to the applied volta-
ge. The actual cell number might deviate from the suggested number if the storage
battery is exhausted or freshly charged.
NUMBER OF CELLS
20 CELLS = 24.0V
Now, select the charging program. You can select 7 different programs.
SET PROGRAM
1. CHA-CHARGE
2. DIS-DISCHARGE
3. CHK-CHECK
4. CYC-CYCLE
5. ALV-ALIVE
6. SLF-SELFDIS.
7. WIN-WINTER
The WINTER program cannot be applied to NiCd and NiMH storage batteries as it
might damage the batteries (see chapter 4. Features).
The program have the following functions:
CHA- CHARGE means that the connected storage battery is charged at accelerated
speed.
DIS- DISCHARGE means that the connected storage battery is only discharged. Do
not use this program for lead storage batteries (see chapter 4. Features)!
CHK- CHECK means that the connected storage battery is discharged and charged
again.
CYC- CYCLE means that the connected storage battery first is charged, then
discharged and charged again.

by means of the ALIVE program. After several cycles, the capacity that can be drawn
(D) increases.
During stand-by parallel operation, lead storage batteries are charged only to
approx. 60- 80% of their nominal capacity for safety reasons, because these storage
batteries are recharged during operation and overcharge would involve irreversible
damage.
NiCd and NiMH storage batteries should be charged with C/ 3 to 1C. For storage
battery packs consisting of 17 to 20 cells, an automatic charge is not recommended
as these storage battery packs are not charged completely by the automatic. They
should be charged with MANUAL I, U, C or with MANUAL I, U, T by means of the
program CHECK as a defined initial condition can be obtained by the preceding
discharge. The maximum charging current should be selected between C/ 10 and
1C and the final charge voltage per cell, which can be set between 1.35V and 1.55V,
should be set to 1.45V. Please observe that with a low charging current you should
select a low final charge voltage and with a high charging current you should select
a high final charge voltage. Here, the adjusted current I is the maximum charging
current. With 17 to 20 cells, this current might not be reached. In case of a charge
with MANUAL I, U, C you should enter as capacity the 1.2 to 1.6-fold nominal capa-
city of the storage battery, i.e. 120 to 160%. It is recommended to enter the 1.4-fold
nominal capacity, i.e. 140%. Please observe that it is recommended to select a high
charging capacity for a low charging current and vice versa. In case of a charge with
MANUAL I, U, T, the charging time should be adapted according to the charging cur-
rent and the indications of the storage battery. If e.g. for a storage battery of
5000mAh a charge with 500mA for 14h is indicated, the time should be set to 7h in
case of a charging current of 1A.
Storage battery voltage
The voltage of a storage battery is indicated in the unloaded condition (and therefo-
re cannot be measured during operation). If no voltage U is indicated, it is not yet
determined by the Charge Terminal.
Charging and discharging current
During charge and discharge, the current I flowing in the storage battery is indicated.
Please observe that in auto mode, the current is adapted automatically by the Char-
ge Terminal. If no current has been determined at the beginning of the charging pro-
cess or if no current is flowing after the program is finished (READY/ ERROR), the
display indicates I= 0.000A.
With lead storage batteries, the adjusted charging current might flow only at the
beginning of the charging process.
