- CYC (CYCLE) = charge/ discharge/ charge
CYCLE means that the connected storage battery first is being charged, then
discharged and afterwards charged again.
- ALV REVIVE (ALIVE) = charge/ discharge/ charge/ discharge/ charge
The ALIVE program is intended to revive storage batteries that are new or that
have been stored for a longer period of time.
- SLF (SELF DISCHARGE) = discharge/ charge/ discharge/ charge/ pause/ dischar-
ge/ charge
The program SELF DISCHARGE is intended for determining the self discharge of a
storage battery over a certain adjustable period of time. For this purpose, the con-
troller stores and compares the storage battery capacity of the two discharging
cycles before and after the pause (because the capacity of the storage battery only
can be stated exactly by means of the discharge), calculates the efficiency n and
indicates it. After the pause, the storage battery will obtain a lower discharge capa-
city (D2) than before (D1) due to the self discharge. Thus, the relation (D2/ D1) is
smaller than 1, i.e. less than 100%. The maximum indication is 99% (provided that
no loss has been ascertained).
In case the Charge Terminal is switched off, separated from the mains voltage or
overheated during the program SELF DISCHARGE, the program will not be conti-
nued but stopped with the indication ERROR. In this case, the two discharging
values cannot be compared anymore.
- WIN (WINTER) = discharge/ charge/ pause/ discharge/ charge/ pause... The pro-
gram WINTER is intended to winter lead storage batteries (e.g. motorcycle batte-
ries). Here, the storage battery will be discharged and charged again every 1 to 30
days provided it remains connected.
Do not use this program for NiCd and NiMH storage batteries, as these storage
battery types should be stored in discharged condition: discharge these storage
batteries with the DISCHARGE program and do not let them discharge by self
discharge. Furthermore, the lifetime depends on the number of cycles. Therefore,
the program WINTER only would damage these storage battery types.
Charging modes
- AUTO:
The current setting during charge and discharge is done automati-
cally. The current value is adapted automatically to the respective
condition of the storage battery.
- MAN:
The charging and discharging current is set permanently.
Please observe that new or improperly treated storage batteries might take only 30%
of their capacity at the beginning. This bad efficiency is shown by a high charging
capacity (C) and a very low discharging capacity (D). Charge these storage batteries

storage batteries and those which have been stored for a longer period of time.
SLF- SELF DISCHARGE means that the storage battery is discharged, charged, and
discharged and charged again. After the following pause (adjustable to 1... 30
days)the storage battery is discharged and charged again. The SELF DISCHARGE
program is intended to calculate the self discharge of a storage battery and thus to
determine the condition of the battery. For this, the efficiency n is calculated from the
storage battery capacities of the two discharging cycles before and after the pause.
The efficiency is indicated in percents.
WIN- WINTER is intended to winter lead storage batteries. In this case, the storage
battery is discharged and charged again every 1 to 30 days (adjustable).
As NiCd and NiMH storage batteries have to be stored in empty condition and the
continuous charging and discharging reduces the lifetime, this program is intended
only for lead storage batteries.

Here, it can be selected between the automatic mode (AUTOMATIC) and
the 3 manual modes (MANUAL). "Automatic" means that the current value is adap-
ted automatically to the respective condition of the storage battery during the pro-
gram, whereas in the manual mode, the current value has to be set. Please observe
that in the automatic mode the charging times might increase.
