Jet Ranger
The hole positions for the CFRP rod and incidence pegs now have to be marked on the
fuselage: the 4 mm Ø holes for the carbon fibre rod should be positioned 315 mm forward of the
tail end of the fuselage, and aligned exactly tangential with the tail boom in the vertical plane.
When the panels have been painted, fit the CFRP rod through the fuselage, slip the stabiliser
panels on it and glue them to the rod and the fuselage using cyano.

1.6 Installing the silencer

The basic rule is that the silencer must be installed in such a way that it does not touch the
fuselage at any point, otherwise the result will be extra vibration (and noise), and excess heat
could even distort or otherwise damage the fuselage moulding. For these reasons the silencer
must be installed with particular care.
If you are using one of the recommended rear-exhaust two-stroke motors, the end of the
manifold will be located centrally under the mechanics, and the silencer will be connected to the
manifold by means of a length of Teflon hose and spring clips. At the rear end we recommend
fitting the silencer console (4450.149) to provide further support. The console braces the
silencer firmly in position relative to the chassis, and this makes it much easier to remove and
install the mechanical assembly for maintenance work. The console has to be installed to suit
the requirements of the model, i.e. in such a way that the silencer tail pipe can be extended with
a short piece of silicone hose which is routed out of the fuselage through a hole of minimum
size.
You may find it helpful to bend the rear end of the tail pipe slightly, although a better solution is
to use an angled silicone exhaust hose, Order No. 1383.10.

1.7 Completing the upper fuselage fairing and tail cap

The upper fuselage fairing has already been trimmed to fit; fix it to the fuselage using eight 2.2 x
6.5 mm self-tapping screws.
For subsequent maintenance work the rotor head must first be removed; the upper fuselage
fairing can then be lifted off for access to the mechanics.
The tail cap has already been trimmed to fit; fix it to the support surface on the fuselage using
three 2.2 x 6.5 mm self-tapping screws.

1.8 Applying the colour decals

The quickest, cleanest and simplest method of producing an attractive helicopter is to use one
of the decal sheets available as an accessory; the decals should be applied in the positions
shown in the kit box illustration. To give the model a scale appearance the first step should be to
paint the black area round the windows, and the dark blue top edges of the vertical stabiliser
and „doghouse", e.g. using paints from the Universal or Acrylfix ranges. To ensure that the paint
adheres well to the fuselage, the base surface must first be sanded using fine wet-and-dry
paper (600- to 1200-grit), used wet.

1.9 Installing the glazing panels

The individual glazing panels are supplied in the kit pre-cut. Nevertheless, please check each
one carefully and trim the edges as necessary. The front screens are fixed permanently to the
removable section of the fuselage front, and attached to the fixed part of the fuselage using 2.2
x 6.5 mm self-tapping screws. We also recommend that the side windows in the doors on both
sides should be removable, to provide easy access to the needle valve, the receiving system
switch and other components of the mechanical assembly. The fixed glazing panels can be
