7-5-3 Installing the roof vent unit
A roof vent unit may pass through any point of the roof, possibly
with a bend to the ridge. Ensure that the opening satisfies local code
requirements.
The roof vent unit can be purchased with either a flat plate for a flat
roof or a universally adjustable roof vent unit for a sloped roof.
1 Determine the location of the hearth and the opening.
2 Cut a ø 153 mm opening for the vent unit.
3 Place the hearth in position, ensuring that it cannot settle any
lower, in the floor covering, e.g.
4 Now connect the vertical pipe to the opening in the hearth.
Press it in place and secure it with the clip. The silicone rings
ensure a good seal in the flue gas vent pipe.
5 Determine the length of the roof vent pipes so that the flat plate
or the universal roof vent's flange can fit snugly against the roof.
6 Saw the outer pipe to the proper length.
Note! The inner pipe must stick out 2 cm under the outer pipe to
guarantee an airtight connection.
7 Connect the roof vent unit to the vertical pipes.
You can install the vent pipe before installing
the connection to the vent opening on the hearth with a fitting
piece.
7-5-4 Installing the vent pipes in an existing chimney
Always be sure to clean the existing chimney and be sure that the
chimney is at least 15 x 15 cm. For the flue, high-quality, ø 100 mm
stainless steel flexible pipe should be used, e.g. 316L or equivalent.
