Troubleshooting
Faults: causes and corrective action
In the event of faults, first check the
basic requirements for normal
operation:
Fault
Electric motor does not start · No voltage
Electric motor starts,
Fault cutout during
preventilation
Electric motor starts and
preaerates, fault cutout
shortly before end of safety
time
Electric motor starts
Fault cutout during operation
– Is there any current ?
– Is there any gas pressure ? Do the
valves open ?
– Are all the control and safety devices,
such as the furnace thermostat, low
water fuse, limit switch etc. correctly
set ?
Cause
· Fuse released
· Capacitor defective
· Motor defective
· Control unit defective
· No gas connection pressure
· Gas pressure switch does not release
· Gas pressure too low
· Contact not closed or
For air pressure control device and regulator
Gas pressure control device and regulator
Temperature control device and regulator
· Dirty ventilator wheel
· Wrong motor direction
· Pressure take-off tube blocked at air
pressure control device
· Air pressure control device defect
· Loose ignition cable
· Torn or charred ignition cable
· Wrong distance between ignition
electrode and turbulator
· Dirty ignition electrode
· Ignition electrode insulation body
damaged, earth contact
· Faulty ignition transformer
· Faulty ionisation electrode
· Gas valve does not open
· Faulty furnace cutout device
· Blocked or faulty pressure release line
· Gas filter blocked
· Gas connection pressure variation
· Solenoid valve does not open
· Flame burns away
· Flame splutters and dies
· Ionisation current fluctuating or too low

Clean or change tubes

Notify gas supply company

Check valve and magnet coil, inspect electrical
connections to the valve

Check burner setting, clean turbulator, or install
regulating valve in flue
ð
Reset burner
ð
Check position, setting and condition of the
ionisation electrode, check ionisation electrode
electrical connections, check that air pressure
control device pressure take-off tube is clean,
check burner earth, reset burner
