4) The flap is operated via an operation cable; the control unit is to be placed in a holder that can
be positioned in the tractor's cabin (e.g. on a mud-guard).
5) In oprder to ensure good quality, always be sure the chopping knives are sharp, the counter
knife is sharp and the cutting clearance is adjusted correctly (see IX.3).
6) Spring tines (21, fig. 15) between guides prevent loss of foliage and stems. Renew broken
spring tines.
7) Ensure chopper is running at full working speed (pto speed 1000 rpm) before entering the crop.
This speed must be maintained during work.
8) Blockage of the lower chute can be removed via the access cover (9, fig. 9) in the lower chute.
Note: Most blocages are caused by too low rpm!
9) If required, the middle chute (6, fig. 5) can be removed together with the central part (8) of the
flap operation cable.

Chopping length
The standard setting of the MH 180S(U) provides a chopping length of 4.5 mm. This setting will do
in far the most cases. But you can change the length setting (to 6, 10 or 15 mm) in order to adapt
the product to your wishes.
A. Green / not ripe crop
The chopped product structure can be preserved by increasing the chopping length (see table 1
below and X.5.).

B. Ripe maize with very hard kernels
If the chopped product contains kernels that have not been hit sufficiently, you can exchange the
smooth plate in the lower housing (arrow, fig. 19) by the cracker plate (standard equipment).
Also ensure the pto speed does not come under 1000 rpm.

Note: With respect to this take well into account that all thekernel cracker plate requires 7%
extra power.

Chute operation / lateral adjustment of the machine
Both chute operation and lateral adjustmant of the machine are operated hydraulically. The machine
has been equipped with a multiple way selector (1), attached near the chute, with selector positions:
