Note: Prior to attaching pto drive shaft, rotate it to ensure the heavy sides of both attaching
hubs (see arrows) are positioned opposite to each other (i.e. the heavy sides point to
each other or both point outwards or one pointing up, the other pointing down: see
sketch on fig. 11).
7) Adjust lateral position as required.
8) Adjust support wheel (18) to desired stem hight.
9) Lift latch (52) (unlocked position) and level chopper by shortening rh draft link (assist by support
wheel extension and hitch hydraulics); limit this position with pin (19) and control lever stop. Lev-
er (50) will be in approx. horizontal position now extending the spring (51) to about 67 cm (27
in).
2.
Folding back to transport/reverse drive chopping position
1) Detach pto drive shaft (17) from chain box (16) and chain box from machine; move chain box to
vertical position and lock in this position.
2) Lift machine with hitch hydraulics, retract support wheel (18) and secure with pin (19) in bottom
hole.
3) Release folding hinge (if necessary use wrench (15)) then fold manually; ensure both transport
catches (11) engage.
4) Attach pto drive shaft to left hand main drive shaft of machine.
5) for chopping in reverse drive: adjust machine via hitch hydraulics to desired stem length; limit
control lever to this position.
Note: Level machine through latch length adjustment. (Unfold machine for adjustment action).
Some light tractors require the relieving spring (51) to be hooked into the rear attach-
ment hole of lever (50). Additionally it may occur that the length adjustability of the latch
is not sufficient to get the machine completely levelled in transport and reverse drive
chopping position. If this is the case, machine should be levelled through support wheel
assistance.
1. Lift the chopper by the 3-pt hitch; ensure the rear tractor traffic lighting stays visible.
2. MH 180SU: Fold the machine into transport position (see V.2.).
Attention:
Do not transport the mounted machine unless it is locked in the transport
position!
3. Fit the protection (2, fig. 32) onto the guides tips.
4. Lift jack stand / support wheel.
5. Ensure the front axle laod is sufficient; fit balance weight if required.
6. The upper chute can be folded downwards to facilitate passage under low openings (see IV.9.).
Attention:
The folded down position is no transport position: it must be used for pas-
sages, ducts, etc. only.
DANGER:When driving under high tension electric power lines it may be necessary to
fold down the chute momentarily! Ask your electricity company for allowed
height!
1.
General
DANGER:When working under high tension electric power lines ask your electricity
company for allowed height!
1) Leave a long stem in order to prevent:
a) damage to the machine from stones,
b) unnecessary wear of knives and discs, caused by sand abraison.
MH 180S: The cutting height is adjusted through the 3-pt.-hitch.
MH 180SU: Set the support wheel to support the chopper. The cutting height is set through sup-
port wheel and top link setting.
Lift the support wheel off the ground, if possible, when turning the machine, e.g. on
the headland.
2) Ensure the guides are level, this can be corrected via the top link adjustment.
Note: When working in lodged crop we recommend to adjust the guide tips running just over
the ground.
3) The chute is rotated hydraulically over 160
