TEDS TEMPLATES

The terms and expression in a template are in English, as that is how they are defined in
the IEEE 1451.4 standard.
Important
Note that in some cases the number of bits for a value specified by the standard is so
small that entered numerical values are not applied exactly.
As is common practice in the templates, the following tables list prefixes to units of mea­
surement, such as m (for milli-...), k (for kilo-...) or u standing for μ (micro-...) etc., in the
Value column, not the Unit column.

ID The value is stored only as a
number, e.g. 31 for HBM. Num­
bers are assigned to manufac­
turers in a table drawn up by the
IEEE as a supplement to the
standard. This table must be in­
cluded in the hardware or soft­
ware that reads the TEDS. The
entry can only be made or
changed if no other templates
have been created.
ID The value is stored only as a
number. Numbers are assigned
to type names in a table which
can be drawn up by the respec­
tive manufacturer (HBM does
this). This table must be in­
cluded in the hardware or soft­
ware that reads the TEDS if you
want the type name to be
shown in plain text.
ID Possible value: a letter (A ... Z).
