Wichtiger Hinweis für die Verwender von
Broncho-Fiberskopen und Intubations-
Fiberskopen
Im Rahmen regelmäßig durchgeführter Revalidie-
rungs-Untersuchungen wurde festgestellt, dass bei
Broncho-Fiberskopen und Intubations-Fiberskopen
(siehe Tabelle nächste Seite) im Kanalabschnitt zwi-
schen Absaugventil und Eingang des Instrumenten-
kanals ein Werkstoff verwendet wird, welcher sei-
tens ASP (Advanced Sterilization Products) nur zur
Verwendung an der äußeren Hülle eines Endoskops
qualifiziert und freigegeben wurde. Dieser Werkstoff
im Kanalabschnitt des Absaugkanals ist somit nicht
®
in den STERRAD
Sterilisations-Systemen validiert.
Das kann dazu führen, dass die Konzentration an
Wasserstoff-Peroxid nicht ausreichend ist, um eine
sichere Sterilisation in diesem Bereich zu gewähr-
leisten.
Das Risiko einer Infektion bei gereinigten, desinfi-

zierten und mit STERRAD
Sterilisations-Systemen
sterilisierten flexiblen Broncho- und Intubations-
Endoskopen wird als gering eingestuft. Unabhängig
davon, dass diese Endoskope der Risikoklassifi-
zierung „semikritisch (B)" nicht zwingend eine Sterili-
sation erfordern, hat KARL STORZ verschiedene
alternative Sterilisations-Methoden validiert und
freigegeben.
Diese sind:

Die Abläufe sowie die prozessrelevanten Parameter
der einzelnen validierten Verfahren sind in der Ge-
brauchsanweisung „Reinigung, Desinfektion, Pflege
und Sterilisation von KARL STORZ Instrumenten",
Version 1.0.0, Art.-Nr. 96216003D, detailliert
beschrieben. Die Wahl des Verfahrens muss unter
Berücksichtigung der jeweiligen nationalen Anforde-
rungen und in Absprache mit den Geräteherstellern
erfolgen.

It has been determined that Broncho-Fiberscopes
and Intubation fiberscopes (see table next page)
incorporate a lumen material that is only approved
for use as an external surface material and not

included in the STERRAD
sterilization systems
FDA-cleared claims for use in flexible endoscope
lumens. This could result in lower than expected
levels of hydrogen peroxide within the lumen during
the exposure phase of the sterilization cycle and
compromise sterilization efficacy.
Based on the risk factors discussed above, the
probability of a patient infection occurring from a
cleaned and disinfected bronchoscope or intuba-

tion scope processed in the STERRAD
sterilization
systems is defined as "remote". Since broncho-
scopes and intubation scopes are semi-critical
devices and need not necessarily sterilization,
KARL STORZ has validated many sterilization
methods.

The instructions „Cleaning, Disinfection, Care and
Sterilization of KARL STORZ Instruments", Ver-
sion 1.0.0, No. 96216003D, describe in detail the
workflows and process-relevant parameters of the
individual validated procedures. The procedure
must be chosen taking into account applicable
national requirements and in consultation with the
device manufacturers.
The methodologies for manual and automated
cleaning and disinfection are already described
in details in this instruction manual. When select-
ing the disinfectant the range of action should be
taken into account with regard to microorganisms.

Indicaciones importantes para los usuarios
de broncofibroscopios y los fibroscopios de
intubación flexibles
En el marco de los exámenes de revalidación que
se llevan a cabo periódicamente se ha determina-
do que los modelos de endoscopio citados más
arriba contienen un material en el tramo del canal
entre la válvula de aspiración y la entrada del canal
de instrumentos que ASP (Advanced Sterilization
Products) solamente ha validado y homologado
para su uso en la vaina exterior de los endoscopios.
Por consiguiente, este material en el tramo del
canal de aspiración no ha sido validado para los

sistemas de esterilización STERRAD
. Este hecho
puede ocasionar que la concentración de peróxido
de hidrógeno no sea suficiente para garantizar una
esterilización segura en dicha área.
Se ha clasificado como reducido el riesgo de infec-
ción con los broncofibroscopios y fibroscopios de
intubación flexibles lavados, desinfectados y esterili-
zados con sistemas de esterilización STERRAD
Con independencia de que los endoscopios con la
clasificación de riesgo „semicrítico (B)" no requieren
obligatoriamente su esterilización, KARL STORZ ha
validado y homologado diversos métodos alternati-
vos de esterilización.

Los procesos y los parámetros relevantes de los

pieza, desinfección, mantenimiento y esterilización
de los instrumentos KARL STORZ", versión 1.0.0,
nº art. 96216003D. A la hora de escoger uno u otro
procedimiento deben tenerse en consideración los
requerimientos nacionales correspondientes y debe
consultarse con el fabricante de los dispositivos.
