XPANSION CHAMBER AND LAMBDA SENSOR

ISASSEMBLY
·
Remove silencers as described in section L, subsec-
tion 2;
·
remove the left side body panel, as described in sec-
tion E, subsection 3;
·
disconnect Lambda sensor "A" connector and release
the wiring;
·
loosen the two ties "B" on exhaust pipes;
·
loosen the 2 nuts "G" between U-bolt "H" and frame
and remove the two screws "I" and washers.
·
to remove the expansion chamber "C" with Lambda
sensor "D", pull it downwards.
Take special care not to damage sensor wiring.
·
Loosen Lambda sensor "D" and separate it from ex-
pansion chamber "E".

EASSEMBLY
Perform the disassembly procedure in reverse order.
Note
To check Lambda probe correct operation,
check the CO rate.

Connect the AXONE2000 tester as described in sub-
section 33 (C

TING PROCEDURE WITH
socket and the CO tester to the two special "E" sock-
ets on the exhaust manifolds "F"
·
The CO% test must be carried out with the engine at
idling speed - 1100 ± 50 RPM, value that could be
always read on the engineering parameters display
under "rpm" - at least 2 minutes after engine ignition
(due to the automatic enrichment) and with an en-
gine oil temperature of 70°÷80°, indicated by the en-
gine oil sensor. This can be viewed on the engineer-
ing parameters display under "engine temperature".
Check that a CO% value ranging between 0,7 and
1,2. is detected for both cylinders.
An unbalance of ±0,2% between the two cylinders is
acceptable.
·
If the CO% is outside the specified limits, change the
Lambda sensor.
