8. Rail pressure sensor comparative test in Common Rail system
Attention:
Always connect and disconnect the pressure pickup with the ignition OFF!
8.1 Connecting the pressure pickup (engine running on n–1 cylinders)
- Ignition SWITCHED OFF!
- Clean the rail and injectors thoroughly with cold cleaner and blow dry with
compressed air.
- Detach the high pressure line from an easily accessible injector and from the rail.
- Depending on the fit situation, make sure no fuel leaks onto the radiator hoses or
belt, as they are not fuel-resistant!
- Close off the injector high pressure port with a plastic plug.
- Connect the 200 MPa hose to the rail using the appropriate adapter (3), angle, nut
and thrust ring (left-hand thread).
- Connect the hose to the pressure pickup (1).
- Tighten all the screw fittings. Brace against the connection of the pressure pickup
using a second wrench!
- Connect the cable to the pressure gage (2) and the rail pressure sensor of the
pressure pickup.
- Press the On/Off switch on the digital pressure gage.
