7.1.6 Installing the movement sensor

The movement sensor reacts to infrared rays (heat radiation from moving object) e.g. people or animals etc
that move in the detection area of the sensor.
The sensors must "see" the area they are intended to keep under surveillance. Heat radiation travels in
straight lines but is obstructed, for example, by glass or other fixed objects.
Before mounting, therefore, pay attention to this, or other problem sources.
The adjacent figure show the detection area of the sensor.
This must be take into account during installation in all ca-
ses.
• The range is a maximum of 12 metres and the detection
angle is 90°.
• Ensure that the sensors always have clear sight of the
area to be monitored.
• Passive infrared radiation is incapable of passing through
solid objects. If the sensors are blocked by objects the
movement sensor will not be activated.
• Direct the sensors toward the centre of the room and
ensure that you do not point the sensors towards
windows, radiators, air conditioners or similar objects.
Direct sunlight or similar should also be avoided as tem-
perature changes can cause false alarms.
• Note also that pets (e.g. cats and dogs) or other moving
objects can cause false alarms.
• Avoid close proximity to strong and direct light sources
and ventilators.
• The installation location must be dry and as free of dust as
possible.
• The movement sensor is intended for wall mounting.
• The installation height should be between 2 and 3 metres.
• Before you start the final installation, check that the area
to be monitored is correctly covered by the movement
sensor!
To do this, switch on the movement sensor and check the
detection area (see Chapter "8. Electrical Connection").
