Handling and Use
Post Dive care of the DrägerRay
After disposing of the DiveSorb
separate from the other components with clear tap water.
Thoroughly clean the lid sealing surface at the upper
cartridge edge, the sieve bottoms, and the rubber gasket
at the cartridge lid. This can best be performed with a
dish brush which is dedicated solely for this purpose.
Thoroughly rinse breathing bag, breathing hoses and
mouth-piece valve, sodalime cartridge, inflator mouth-
piece and bail out lung demand valve with clear hot (up to
60 °C) tap water.
Check inside of bypass valve for traces of DiveSorb
dust. If dust is found, shake it out and thoroughly rinse
with tap water. Make sure that the valve lever is not
pressed during cleaning. Otherwise water might get into
the medium pressure hose.
Disinfecting
Only required after each dive if the unit is not part of the
diver's personal equipment.
Prepare disinfecting bath, EW 80 des (Fa. Tremonia
Chemie, Dortmund, Germany), as per instructions and
immerse double breathing hose, sodalime cartridge, bail
out lung demand valve and breathing bag. Move the
components such that all inner surfaces get into full
contact with fresh disinfectant several times. From this
solution fill 2 to 3 liters into buoyancy chamber via the
inflator mouthpiece, shake, empty and shake thoroughly.
All components disinfected have to be thoroughly rinsed
with clear tap water afterwards.
Once the components have been rinsed, spread them
out in a well ventilated, shared area to dry.
When all components are completely dry, both inside
and out, reassemble the unit. Check all sealing elements
before putting them together. Store the unit with the
mouthpiece valve open in a well ventilated, shaded area
at near room temperature.
Caution!
Never inflate the BC while cleaning it, because
the water cannot escape through the discharge
valve fast enough to avoid bursting the inner bladder.
In case your jacket is damaged contact your local
dealer. Two-chamber jackets can be repaired.
After it has been thoroughly cleaned, inflate the BC and
hang it up away from direct sunlight. Rinse the inflator
mouth-piece underwater with the low pressure inflator
connected and the cylinder valve turned on.
