Place the CO -scrubber cartridge between the two

trimming weight pockets with the connecting nozzle
facing upwards.
Mount the breathing bag connector to the gas inlet of the
CO -scrubber cartridge. To do this, push the spring of

the cartridge connection to the middle.
Fill approx. 4 to 5 lbs of trimming weights in each of the
trimming pockets (53).
If you want to use the DrägerRay with the Dräger OXY-
gauge it is connected on the bottom of the cartridge at
the protruding plug-in connector (Figure 6.16). Remove
the blind plug from the connector in the cartridge lid and
connect the OXYgauge. Next, push the CO
cartridge towards the cylinder holding strap, close
trimming weight pockets (53) and fasten the cartridge
with the strap (40) (Figure 6.17).
The connection hose of the OXYgauge between sensor
connector and display unit is led between cartridge and
Nitrox cylinder.
Then connect the double breathing hose, being very
careful to match the hoses up with the direction of gas
flow, and fasten using the quick connectors.
Leak test with negative pressure
With the nitrox cylinder valve closed, inhale all gas from
the breathing bag and shut the mouthpiece valve. The
breathing bag must not inflate.
To make sure there are no slight leaks, watch the
breathing bag for approximately half a minute. If the
breathing bag does inflate, double check to make sure
the nitrox cylinder valve is closed. If it is, DO NOT
attempt to use the DrägerRay. It has to be repaired at a
trained repair facility.
Check cylinder pressure
Open cylinder valve and check gauge reading.
Check bypass valve
Open the cylinder valve and inhale the nitrox from the
open mouthpiece. When the breathing bags are comple-
tely emptied, nitrox must be supplied through the bypass
valve during inhalation. The bypass valve must supply as
much gas as is inhaled.
If not, double check the assembly of the regulator to the
Nitrox cylinder valve, making sure the valve is completely
open. If the regulator still does not supply as much gas
as is inhaled, return the DrägerRay for repair at a trained
repair facility before using it.
