After you have finished filling the scrubber cartridge, it is
then time to look at the breathing hoses. First, check the
proper functioning of the directional valves by opening
the mouthpiece valve. When breathing through the
mouthpiece, note that the directional valve and the re-
spective breathing hose open and close during inhalation
and exhalation. Note also that the mouthpiece of new
units can be a bit stiff at first. By working the mechanism
a few times, it will become more thoroughly lubricated
and should be easier to use.
When inhaling at the breathing bag end of the inhalation
hose (see Figure 6.11), and when inhaling through the
mouth-piece while sealing the open inhalation hose, there
must be no gas flow. If you notice any gas leakages at all,
carefully reassemble the unit and repeat the above
procedure.
As shown in Figure 6.12 put a 1 kg piece of lead into the
trimming weight pocket.
Prior to any use or every time you have removed the
pneumatics unit from the device mount it as follows:
The medium pressure hoses of the manifold (8, 9,
10), with inflator hose (12) and bypass valve (11), and
the bail out lung demand valve (14) coming from the
cylinder attachment are led under the small strap
connecting the trimming weight pockets (53).
