3.4.2 Control Elements for Controlling the Travel of the Machine and their Use
3.4.2.1 Switching between the Manual and Motorized Travel
The gearbox is equipped with the bypass lever for disengaging the motorized travel of the gearbox, which facilitates the manual travel
with the machine. It is placed above the tube bumper that is fitted with the hitch. The designation on the sticker with safety pictograms is
made by the expression BYPASS ON-OFF.
The positions (see Fig. 5 on page 88 as seen from the operator's perspective) :
a) the position on the left: The transmission is disengaged, it is possible to manually move the machine.
The resistance when manually pushing the machine is affected by the temperature of the oil in the gearbox. If the oil is
cold, it is more difficult to move the machine than when the ambient temperature is higher or when the oil is warmed
up to the operational temperature.
Even if the gearbox is hydrostatic, there are cogged gears of the pumps and of the permanent transmission of the axle
inside. The operational noise coming from the gearbox during the manual movement of the machine is normal; it does
not affect the function of the gearbox or its service life. The operational noise may not be subject of any complaint.
WARNING! Never use the manual travel position when parking the machine on the slope. Especially when the oil
is warmed up to the maximum operational temperature, there is nothing that could brake the drive axle and the
machine could be accidentally set in motion.
b) the position on the right: The gearbox is connected to the engine drive; it is not possible to manually move the machine. Use always
this position in the following cases:
the machine is parked on a slope,
when securing the machine during its transport by car,
when parking the machine.
3.4.2.2 Travel Speed Selection
Engage the reverse speed only when the machine is fully stopped and with the travel clutch disengaged!
In the event that you change the gear during the movement of the machine, proceed with caution! The machine
steered using only one hand may change the course unexpectedly.
To select the direction and the respective gear number, use the gear selector – the rotary lever
Fig. 6 on page 88 . The positions (see Fig. 7 on page 89 as seen from the operator's perspective):
"N" - neutral: the machine is not moving. The position is secured by the safety lock – the sliding part of the speed selector control
lever; the safety lock prevents the lever from accidental movement, which would lead to engaging the travel mechanism of the machine.
"F" - forward. The position for the forward movement. The more the speed selector lever is tilted towards the engine, the faster the
machine will move.
Before moving the lever from the "N" position forward, it is necessary to push the lever lock upwards. Place the left hand palm on the
head of the lever and pull the protrusions on the lever with two fingers. Then move the speed selector lever forward by applying the
pressure by the palm. The method of grasping the lever for further movement is up to the usage of the user.
The approximate value of the speed as set by the user is indicated by the line indicators on the scale. They serve to estimate the
approximately same speed after stopping the machine or after reversing.
The recommended speed that is suitable for achieving the best possible work results is always specified with each
attachment tool.
When moving the lever from "F" – forward to "N"– neutral, it is not necessary to push the lock upwards; the lock will lock into the
respective opening by itself.
"R" – reverse
Before starting reversing, especially when leading the machine on foot, make sure that there is enough space
behind you to safely manoeuvre the machine and that the surface is free of bumps that would adversely affect
your stability.
Before moving the speed selector lever from the "N" position backwards, it is necessary to push the lever lock upwards. Place the left
hand palm on the head of the lever and pull the protrusions on the lever with two fingers. Then move the speed selector lever backwards
by applying the pressure by the palm.
In most cases, the suitable speed for reversing is the maximum speed, which is set when the lever is in its end position. The speed should
be set to allow for the safe walking backwards.
3.4.2.3 Machine Start
The travel movement of the machine is initiated by the lower lever for engaging the travel clutch situated on the right handle (
Fig. 6 on page 88 ).
Before starting reversing, especially when leading the machine on foot, make sure that there is enough space
behind you to safely manoeuvre the machine and that the surface is free of bumps that would adversely affect
your stability.
