grooves on the dynamo wheel must
make maximum contact with the ridges
on the tyre.
2. Examine the electrical wiring to
check that:
a) The wires are well fi xed to both
light sources.
b) Bulbs and dynamo are not corroded.
Scrape clean the contact points with a
blade, if necessary.
c) There are no breaks in the wiring or
jamming at the back axle (58).
d) Risk of short circuit (worn protective
layer).
I M P O R T A N T
• If the batteries are empty, go along
to your Batavus dealer.
• Of course, you always check whether
the lights are working before you get
on your bicycle when it is dark.
• Never switch on your dynamo when
cycling, unless you have a bicycle with a
dynamo switch on the handlebars.
• If the weather is wet check whether
the dynamo has enough grip on the
side of the tyre.
THE BATAVUS DYNAMO SWITCH
With a rotary switch on the handlebars
(37) you can switch on the dynamo
(and with it the lighting) in a single
operation. The diffi cult or dangerous
situations you might have had in the
past when switching on the dynamo
are avoided as a result. Convenience,
safety and comfort!
THE HUB DYNAMO
The hub dynamo is a dynamo which is
integrated in the front hub (38).
This hub dynamo is not only compact
and light in weight, but also much
more effi cient, electrically and mecha-
nically speaking. The lighting system
ensures that there is less rolling resi-
stance, fewer defects and no slipping.
The wiring has a plug. When disassem-
bling the wheel, make sure that the
plug is disconnected fi rst. In the event
of doubt please consult your Batavus
dealer.

THE LUGGAGE CARRIER
As the name indicates, the luggage
carrier is intended for luggage and not
passengers.
A steel (rear) luggage carrier and an
aluminium carrier are both strong but
the latter is considerably lighter in
weight. Look at the text on the carrier
itself, or consult your Batavus dealer,
for the maximum acceptable load.
Ensure that a saddlebag is hung on the
luggage carrier and not on the bag
distancer!
THE STAND
The Batavus Safety stand is sturdy and
stable, so that the bicycle is not as likely
to fall over in high winds.
I M P O R T A N T
• Do not push the bicycle forwards
without lifting it slightly to get the
double stand to fold away, or you will
damage the stand and frame.
