8 LINKS AND CONNECTIONS

The unit is supplied filled with refrigerant and tested. When it reaches the installation location, the necessary hydraulic and electric connections must be
completed.
Correct management of the hydraulic circuit for units with R32 refrigerant
Hydraulic circuit
The heat exchanger of the unit, in case of breakage, could release refrigerant into the water circuit. To minimize the release of refrigerant indoors
through water piping, the water side of the heat exchanger of MEHITS units is equipped with a safety Pressure Release Valve (PRV), for releasing the
refrigerant into the atmosphere. It is the responsibility of the installer to design and protect the water circuit (piping, fan coils, tanks, etc.), considering
also the PRV set, pump head pressure, geodetic quota, etc.
The outlet connection of the PRV shall be routed from the unit enclosure to the open air and in safe zones, away from potential ignition sources
(electrical equipment, hot surfaces, flames, etc.).
Pay attention to the design of the hydraulic water circuit: it must be designed to prevent the release of refrigerant into areas served by water/brine. The
following may be considered to comply with this requirement:
Any open-type expansion vessels/tanks, water tanks and so on shall be installed outdoor. If they are already installed in indoor space, it is necessary
to substitute them with hermetic-type ones or to move them from indoors to outdoors.
It is preferable to avoid the installation of PRVs on hydraulic pipes located inside the building; where possible, it is better to install the PRVs
directly outside the building or connect them to a pipe that releases any refrigerant to the outside. Refrigerant releasing points are not, under any
circumstances, allowed in occupied spaces (only manual air vents are allowed).
Any Automatic Air Vents (AAVs) installed on the indoor hydraulic circuit shall be capped after commissioning.
HERMETIC TYPE
indoor or outdoor
If it is not possible to move these potential release points from the machinery room to outdoors, then the machinery room must be compliant with the
requirements of EN 378-3:2021, clause 5 (gas detection, alarms, ventilation, etc.).
In case that the unit needs to be repaired, the water/brine must be checked for the possible presence of refrigerant.
