approval expires when the device is opened, and when repairs or changes are
made on the device that are not done by the technical expert or the manu-
facturer.
Visible changes on the housing of the device, for example brownish black co-
loring caused by heat, as well as holes or indentations point to a significant
defect. The device must be immediately switched off.
In regard to complimentary operating devices, the connected intrinsically safe
operating devices must also be checked. Only a technical expert or the manu-
facturer must check a device in regard to explosion protection. The operation
of the device is only permitted within the frame of the approved specifications
or the technical data printed onto the housing. Especially observe possibly lis-
ted special conditions in the CE-type examination or in the Conditions of Cer-
tification of the IECEx CoC.
Prior to each start-up or after changing the device connection, it must be ensu-
red that the respective regulations, rules, and general conditions are complied
with and met; the device must be operated as intended and safety regulations
must be followed.
Trained and qualified personnel with knowledge of relevant national and ap-
plicable international regulations for explosion protection must install the de-
vice and connect it.
