Information for using devices with intrinsically safe circuits

(only FMX-IM-3UP63X, FMX-IM-3UR38X and FMX-IM-2UPLi63X)
On the terminals marked blue, the available devices control circuits with pro-
tection type "Intrinsic Safety" for explosion protection per EN 60079-11. The
intrinsically safe circuits have been certified by authorized approval agencies
and have been approved for use in the respective countries. It is imperative
that you observe and comply with the national rules and regulations for the
intended operation in explosive areas.
The following contains some information, especially in regard to the frame-
work guideline of the European Union 94/9/EG (ATEX).
The device at hand is a complementary operating device, which has both in-
trinsically safe and non-intriniscally safe circuits. Only installation outside the
explosive area and in dry, clean, and well-controlled rooms is permitted.
Intrinsically safe electrical operating devices can be connected to the intrinsi-
cally safe connections. All operating devices must meet the prerequisites for
operation in the existing zone of the explosive area. If the intrinsically safe cir-
cuits lead into dust explosive areas of Zone 20 or 21, it must be ensured that the
devices that are connected to these circuits meet the requirements of Category
1D or 2D and that they have been certified accordingly. If the operating devices
are connected, "Proof of Intrinsic Safety" must be performed (EN 60079-14).
With the one-time connection of intrinsically safe circuits to non-intrinsically
safe ones, the later use as an operating device with intrinsically safe circuits is
no longer permitted.
Respective regulations are valid for installing intrinsically safe circuits, for
mounting on outside connection parts, as well as for the condition and the
laying of cables.
Cables and terminals with intrinsically safe circuits must be marked – use light
blue for colored marks. They must be isolated from non-intrinsically safe cir-
cuits or they must have respective insulation (EN 60079-14). A distance (thread
measure) of 50 mm must be observed between the connection parts of intrin-
sically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits. Connection parts of intrinsically
safe circuits must be 6 mm apart from each other.
Please comply with the specified distance between the intrinsically safe con-
nections of this device and the grounded components and connections of
other devices. Unless explicitly specified in the device-specific instruction, the
