the cooking setting is almost reached. The hob can be dialled back.
Depending on the type of hob and the amount of food, you can switch back sooner or
later: at the beginning of the yellow range for hotplate/glass ceramic, towards the end of
the yellow range for induction/gas.
Green ring:
The cooking setting has been reached, the cooking time begins.
The energy supply should be regulated so that the cooking indicator remains in the green
area throughout the cooking time.
Red ring:
the temperature in the pot is too high. The pot will automatically start to release steam to
regulate the temperature. Please turn the hob down further.
The energy supply should be regulated so that the cooking indicator does not rise into the
red range. Otherwise, the pot loses liquid through evaporation.

Cooking times

The cooking times are measured from the time the selected cooking setting (green ring) is
reached.
Basic rules:
1. The cooking time on setting 3 is approximately ½ to ⅓ of the time normally required
when using a conventional pot.
2. The cooking time on setting 1 is about 50% longer than on setting 3.
The cooking time on setting 2 is about 25% longer than on setting 3.
3. Cooking times may vary depending on the quantity, shape, size and texture of the food.
Example of jacket potatoes:

approx. 8-12 min.
At the end of the cooking time, remove the pressure cooker from the hob and allow the
pressure to escape (see notes in the following chapter) and only then can you open it.
Further cooking times can be found from page 534 onwards.

7. Releasing steam from the vitavit

Caution:
Never force the pressure cooker open. The pot must not be opened until the
cooking indicator has lowered completely and no more steam escapes when the
control button is pressed.

There are 4 ways to release steam from your Fissler pressure cooker.
You should choose the method for steam release depending on the food being cooked.
For slightly foaming or rising foods such as pulses, soups or stews, or for foods with
delicate skins such as jacket potatoes, do not use a method with rapid pressure reduction,
as otherwise the food may spill out or the skin may crack.
Method 1
Quick steam release with the control button
See Figure O
Press the control button (Fig. A-7) lightly in the direction of the arrow to release steam
from under the lid handle (Fig. A-9). Hold the button down until the cooking indicator has
completely lowered and no more steam escapes.
Then release the button, gently shake the pot and press the control button again. Repeat
this process until no more steam escapes. When the pot is depressurised, the Euromatic
lowers. The control button can now be pressed all the way down to open the pot.
Note:
as long as there is pressure in the pot, the control button cannot be pressed all the way
down. This is for your safety, as it prevents the pot from being opened accidentally when it
is still under pressure. So do not try to force down the control button.
Method 2
Adjustable steam release with the pressure regulator
See Figure P
By gradually turning the adjusting ring towards the steam release position, steam will
escape from under the pressure regulator (Fig. A-5). You can choose to release steam
gently or a little faster. The greater the increments in which you adjust the setting ring, the
higher the steam output. At the end, set the adjustment ring to the steam release position
and wait until no more steam escapes. Then gently shake the pot and repeat this process
until no more steam escapes. When the pot is depressurised, the Euromatic lowers. The
control button can now be pressed all the way down to open the pot.
Note:
never turn the setting ring from cooking setting 1, 2 or 3 directly to the steam release
position, as the steam output will otherwise be very high and food may escape. Always
turn the pressure regulator to the steam release position in several small steps.
Method 3
Allow to cool
You can choose this method to use the residual energy in the pot.
To do this, remove the pot from the hob shortly before the end of the cooking time and
allow it to cool slowly until the cooking indicator has gone all the way down.
Then press the control button lightly to release any remaining pressure. Release the button
as soon as no more steam escapes, then gently shake the pot and press the control button
again. Repeat this process until no more steam escapes. When the pot is depressurised,
the Euromatic lowers. The control button can now be pressed all the way down to open the
