5. Instructions for use

Safety devices

Your vitavit
pressure cooker is equipped with various devices that work independently
®
to ensure the safety of the device. Before each use, please check the functionality of the
safety devices mentioned below and never tamper with them. Make sure that the pressure
regulator and lid handle are correctly fitted and firmly seated before starting cooking. You
will find instructions on this in chapter 8.
Pressure regulator (Fig. A-3)
See Figure G
Remove the pressure regulator from the lid and set to level 3. Check that the boiling
indicator (1) and valve body (2) move freely and spring back by applying pressure with
your finger.
Euromatic (Fig. A-21)
See Figure H+I
Make sure that the Euromatic sits properly and moves freely in the lid.
The O-ring seal must lie completely in the notch provided.
See Figure J
Check whether the white ball in the Euromatic moves freely and springs back by applying
pressure with your finger.
Sealing ring (Fig. A-23) and safety nub (Fig. A-20)
See Figure K
Check that the sealing ring and lid rim are clean, the sealing ring is undamaged and the
safety nub (1) moves freely.
Insert the sealing ring so that it lies completely flat and below the inwardly curved edge
segments (2), against the inside of the lid. The sealing ring must be in front of the safety
nub, i.e. pressed away from the edge of the cover.

Filling quantities

Caution:
Never cook without enough liquid and make sure that the liquid in the pressure
cooker does not evaporate completely. Failure to do so may cause the food to
burn and damage the pot handles, valves, safety devices and the hob. If this
happens, do not continue to use the pressure cooker as the functionality of the
valves and safety devices can no longer be guaranteed. Have your pressure
cooker checked by Fissler customer service.

See Figure L
Please note the following information on filling quantities for pressure cooking.
For easy measuring, there is a scale (min/max) on the inside of the pot.
Depending on the diameter of the device, at least 200-300 ml of liquid is required to
produce steam, regardless of whether you are cooking with or without an insert. Never
operate the pressure cooker without this minimum amount of liquid.
Ø 18 cm:
200 ml
Ø 22 cm:
250 ml
Ø 26 cm:
300 ml
The pressure cooker must not be filled to more than ⅔ of its capacity to ensure safe
operation (see max marking).
½
For foods that foam or expand during cooking, such as rice, broth or dried vegetables, the
pressure cooker may be filled to no more than half its capacity (see ½ mark).
When cooking beans and other pulses, only fill the pot to ⅓ of its capacity (see ⅓ mark),
as their thin skin can easily rise and clog the valves.

Stovetop suitability

Fissler pressure cookers are suitable for all stove types.
These include gas hobs as well as electric/hot plate/glass ceramic induction hobs.

Regulating the hob

Never heat the opened pressure cooker when empty or with fat for more than 2 minutes at
the highest energy setting, as overheating can damage the base.
Hot plate/glass ceramic (radiation/halogen):
The stovetop should be the same diameter as the bottom of the pot or smaller.
Gas hob:
Place the cookware in the centre and avoid flashover, as this will damage the plastic
handles.
Induction:
Always place the cookware in the centre of the hob. The size of the base of the pan should
match or be larger than the hob size, otherwise the hob may not respond to the base of
the pan.
Special instructions for induction cookers:
To avoid overheating and damage to the cookware due to the high performance of
