Maintenance and cleaning

Before each maintenance and cleaning work
− Stop the engine.
− Wait until the toeing tools come to a stop.
− Remove the spark plug connector.
− Wear protective gloves in order to avoid injury
to the hands.
− Do not carry out maintenance work close to
open flames. Risk of fire.
Maintenance and repair work other than those described in this
chapter is only allowed to be carried out by service staff.
For maintaining and cleaning, removed security devices must
unconditionally be mounted properly and proved again.
Only use genuine spare parts. Other than genuine parts may
result in unpredictable damages and injury.

Maintenance

The tool will not come to a standstill immediately after cut-
off. Before starting any service work wait until all parts are
stationary.
To guarantee a long and reliable usage of the product carry out
the following maintainance works regularly.
Check the device for obvious defects such as
− loose fastening elements
− worn or damaged components
− correctly assembled and faultless covers and protective
devices.
− leaks from the fuel tank cap or fuel lines.
Necessary repair works or maintainance have to be carried
out before using the machine.

Adjusting the clutch cable

The clutch must be adjusted so that it only engages when the
clutch lever is fully pressed.
If the clutch engages too early or cannot be engaged proceed as
follows:
Start the engine as described in the chapter "Start-up –
Starting with cold engine".
Press the clutch lever (19, 24).
,
Make sure that the toeing tools can not touch concrete
or tarmac surfaces.
Adjust the lock nuts as follows:
If the toeing tools do not rotate despite the clutch lever
(19, 24) is pressed -
If the toeing tools already rotate before the clutch lever
is fully pressed -
backwards - clutch cable is loosened.
Retighten the lock nuts.
forwards - clutch cable is taut.

Replacing the V-belt/toothed belt

Replace any damaged toothed belt or V-belt without any
delay.
1.
Remove the belt cover (29).
2.
Loosen the nuts (a, b) and remove the nut and washer.
3.
Loosen the nut (c) and turn away the locking plate.
4. Place a new V-belt (51).
5.
Place a new toothed belt (52).
6. Reinstall the nuts a, b, and c.
7. Re-mount the belt cover.

Cleaning/replacing the air filter

Clean the air filter from dust and dirt on a regular basis to
prevent
- starting problems
– loss of output,
– too high fuel consumption.
Clean the air filter every 50 operating hours, or more frequently
in dusty environments. (Every 10 hours)
1.
Unscrew only the machine knob nut and remove the
cover (10).
2.
Unscrew the wing nut and remove the air filter (11).
3.
Remove the foam filter (12) from the paper filter (13).
4. Inspect both air filter elements. Replace the elements if
damaged.
5. Clean the filter elements if they are re-used.
Paper filter: To remove the dirt, tap the filter several times
against a hard surface. You can also blow clean
the filter from top to bottom using compressed air
(max. 2 bar).
Foam filter: Wash the air filter in warm soap water. Rinse well.
Squeeze the air filter in a dry and clean cloth.
Allow the air filter to dry well. Dip the filter into
engine oil and then squeeze it in a dry and clean
cloth to remove surplus oil. The engine smokes if
the foam contains too much excess oil.
6.
Clean the air filter mounting plate (47) and seal (46) with
a wet rag. Make sure that no dirt enters the air line to the
carburetor.
7. Place the foam filter on the paper filter. Install the complete
air filter again. Tighten the wings nuts. Pay attention that the
seal (46) is installed under the air filter.
8. Clean the cover with a wet rag.
9. Re-mount the cover.
Never operate the machine without air filter. Dust and dirt
can enter the engine and cause damages to the machine.
Replace the air filter on a regular basis.
Damaged air filters must be replaced without delay.
