Adjusting the hoeing spur
The hoeing spur decelerates the forward speed and controls the
working depth of the hoeing tools. The deeper the hoeing spur is
adjusted the deeper can the hoeing tools dig through the soil.
Tilt the hoeing spur (37) downwards.
Lift the hoeing spur (37) and lower it to your desired
position.
Adjust the working depth according to the soil conditions.
The adjustments in the table are guidelines only.
Large working depth for:
Sandy and slightly clayey soils
Soils that are loosened regularly
Medium working depth for:
Very dry/wet sandy and slightly clayey soils
Soils that are loosened infrequently
Low working depth for:
Very loamy and clayey soils
Hard and stony soils
Work very careful in these soil conditions. Reduce the
working speed and firmly hold the machine. Be very
attentive.
When working in very wet loamy and clayey soils it may
happen that the soil is compacted and water draining is
prevented.
Set a lower work depth when the motor is straining
(motor speed drops and motor noise changes).
For transport, turn the hoeing spur (37) to its
transport position.
Transport wheels
The motor hoe has transport wheels for a convenient transport.
Before starting your work turn the transport wheels to the
working position.
Pull out the securing clamp (39).
Turn the transport wheel (38) to your desired position.
Allow the securing clamp to re-engage.

Work instructions

Always keep your hands and feet at a safe distance to
the tool.
• Always hold the machine firmly with both hands when
working.
• Do not operate the machine directly along walls or pavers.
Otherwise the toeing tools may be damaged.
• Operate the machine with a reasonable uniform speed in
straight lines across the soil.
To achieve a very loose and crumbly soil it is
recommended to work the soil several times.
24
• Be careful when changing the direction or on obstacles.
Release the clutch lever in good time and carefully guide the
machine around.
Reverse speed: Pay particular attention to obstacles that
might behind you.
If the toeing tools are blocked or you feel too much
vibration on the machine, immediately stop the engine and
wait until the toeing tools come to a dead stop. Check the
machine:
− A blocked gear may cause clutch damage.
− Clean the hoeing tools using suited aids. For this, tilt the
machine backwards and lay it on its steering handles.
Remove the toeing spur (4) beforehand.
− Replace any damaged toeing tools.
Working on slopes
Be sure to use this machine only on slopes with a
gradient <10°.
Fill the fuel tank only up its half capacity.
Always work across a slope if possible.
Never work from top to bottom.
Be careful when changing the direction.
Observe all safety instructions in any case.

Start of work

Start the machine as described in the chapter "Start-up".
Unlock the clutch lever for the forward speed (19) by
pulling out the securing pin (21).
Fully depress the clutch lever for the forward speed (19)
.
The hoeing tools begin to rotate in forward direction.
Firmly hold the machine with both hands.
Never guide the machine with the toeing tools rotating
on concrete or tarmac surfaces.
Never lock the clutch lever in its
working position.
Release the clutch lever.
The toeing tools come to a stop.
Reverse speed
For better maneuverability the motor hoe has a reverse
gear.
Unlock the clutch lever for the reverse speed (24) by
pulling out the securing pin (57).
Fully depress the clutch lever for the reverse speed (24)
.
The hoeing tools begin to rotate in reverse direction.
Firmly hold the machine with both hands.
Pay particular attention to obstacles that might behind
you.
