Adjustment Possibilities for the Model Car

a) Setting the Camber

The camber is the inclination of the wheel level as viewed from the front (vertical).
Negative inclination
(Top wheel edge points inwards)
The setting of the wheel is exaggerated in the two figures in order to make the difference between negative
and positive cambers more obvious. The setting on the model vehicle should of course not be as extreme as
shown! This not only leads to uncontrollable driving behaviour, but also to very quick wearing away of the
inner and outer tyre edges!
• A negative inclination of the front wheels increases the lateral cornering powers of the wheel when driving through
bends, the steering reacts more directly and steering forces are reduced. At the same time, the wheel is pushed onto
the axle leg in the direction of the axle. This stops axial bearing clearance, the driving behaviour is calmer.
• A negative inclination on the rear wheels reduces the tendency of the rear of the vehicle to swerve in bends.
• Setting a positive camber on the other hand reduces the cornering force of the wheels and should not be used.
Setting Front Axle Camber:
Remove the front wheel nut (H) and take off the wheel. This
setting is made by turning one metal ball-headed bolt (E)
each into either direction at the top (A) and bottom (B) of the
axle stub.
The plastics nut (G) may remain in the rim or
detach from the wheel axle when the wheel is
taken off.
In this case ensure that the driving pin (F) is not
lost.
When the wheel is later replaced, ensure that the
driving pin (F) is exactly in the centre of the wheel
axle and inserted into the respective plastics nut
groove (G).
The plastics nut (G) must be put onto the wheel
axle or driving pin (F) in the right orientation!
