d) transmission aerials or HF generators
• Do not use the multimeter shortly before, during or shortly after a thunderstorm
(lighting strike! / high energy, excess voltages!). Make sure that your hands, shoes
and clothes are completely dry: the same applies for the floor, the measuring devi-
ce and sensing leads, switches and switching components.
• If you become aware that safe operation is no longer possible, then switch off the
equipment and secure it against unsupervised use. It must be assumed that safe
operation is no longer possible if
- the equipment shows visible damage,
- the equipment no longer works and
- it has been stored in unfavourable conditions for a long period, or
- it has been subjected to considerable stresses during transportation.
• Never switch on the equipment when it is transferred from a cold room to a warm
one. The condensation moisture which is thereby produced could destroy the
equipment.
Pre-positioning
This digital multimeter with multi-functional display is equipped with special func-
tions which facilitate the meaningful enhancement of many measurements:
a) Five-digit, digital displays - both small and large - up to a resolution of 4 decimal
places.
b) By using the 'MAX', 'MIN' and 'AVG' D-H functions for example (data hold), it is
possible to 'freeze' a measured value or to establish the smallest or largest mea-
sured value which occurs, or the mean value (AVG).
c) When measuring the voltage or current (AC and DC), the 'real' or 'true' rms current
is displayed irrespective of the measuring signal's curve form, i.e., even with
distorted, sinusoidal alternating voltages or output voltages from one-way rectifier
switches.
d) The 'Hz' function enables you to measure the frequencies of measured signals up
to 5 MHz max.
e) The 'TEMP' function and NiCrNi sensors (k type) enable temperatures from -20(C
up to +1,200(C to be measured.
