f) In addition, the DMM can be connected to a PC by using an appropriate cable
(optionally available) via the uni-directional, IR interface on the housing's undersi-
de. After installing appropriate software in the PC (optionally available), communi-
cation is possible between the digital multimeter and the PC (in both directions =
bi-directional).
The VC 608 is universally usable: not only in the hobby area but also in professio-
nal or educational areas, etc.
Adapter cable and software are part of the scope of delivery.

Handling and commissioning

A Inserting the battery – battery exchange
Your measuring device must be equipped with a 9 V compound battery if it is to fun-
ction faultlessly. You must change the battery when a battery symbol appears on the
display. Do so by observing the following procedure:
- disconnect your measuring device from the voltage circuit,
- remove the measuring leads from the measuring device,
- switch it off and
- unscrew the battery chamber cover's fastening screws using a suitable scr-
ewdriver (Phillips screwdriver).
- Now, carefully lift off the cover.
- Disconnect the used battery from the connecting clip and
- replace the battery with an unused one of the same type.
- After completing the battery exchange, replace the connected battery in the
battery chamber and
- carefully reclose the cover.
- Be careful when closing the battery chamber to avoid squashing the connec-
ting clip's leads (red / black).
Never operate the measuring device when it is in an opened
condition! Danger to life! Do not leave any used batteries in the
measuring device, because even sealed batteries can corrode
and thereby release chemicals
which can damage your health or destroy the battery chamber.
Used batteries are to be considered as special waste and must
therefore be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
Empty batteries
can be disposed of at your specialist dealer's shop. There, spe-
cial facilities (collecting boxes) are provided.
